FAQs about hotels in Bucharest

Where Modern Meets Old

A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.

Undergoing constant modernisation processes, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city centre and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable-stayed bridge, and the City Gate Towers.

Whilst admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 330,000 m². Make sure you admire the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!

To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!

Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 18 km from the city centre, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!

Interesting city, like any metropolis not for the faint-hearted, but full of hidden surprises, brilliant history and art museums, centrally placed monastery, lovely bookshop with top floor cafe, Old Town vibe and quite well placed for day trips to Transylvania hills and forests, Bram (Dracula) Castle and Therme Spa, one of finest mega spa swimming, fun and treatment centres in Europe. Lovely little cafe by Art Museum complex - Boutique du Pain - serving fresh power salads and good coffee. City has a new football museum which we might have visited, that or the ethnography museum, if we had had another day.

Our visit was primarily to celebrate a friend's birthday, and we had 2 or 3 activities pre-planned so sightseeing was limited. However, what we saw of the city was lovely. Like any city, it has its less salubrious areas, but there is some great architecture and lovely gardens to see. Ubers are plentiful and cheap if you don't want to walk, but traffic is generally very heavy! For those who indulge, beer is cheap, and there are some fabulous Romanian wines to sample.

A really developed city, which is convenient to get by to every place. We really liked the Village museum, located in a park up north from the city center. The old city feels a bit touristy but we liked the vibe overall. There was a massive event going on for the Bucharest day and the whole city was outside.

The old town is easy to walk around and very interesting. If you want to visit the parliament, you need to book in advance as there were no walk ups when we visited. I felt safe walking around the city

There is a lot to visit in Bucharest!

There is a lot to visit in Bucharest! I would recommend House of parliament, Ceaucescu's house, Cismigiu gardens, Herastrau park. If you want to eat well and authentic Hanu lui Manuc and Caru cu bere are fabulous restaurants. If you want to see Bucharest at night buzzing of atmosphere then it has to be OLD TOWN. Pub terrace, after pub terrace with an amazing atmosphere.

I stayed here for a two day visit to Bucharest. The hotel was a short walk from the airport bus stop and about a 20 minute walk to the old town. The room was very large and comfortable although a little dated. The bathroom was large and had a shower over the bath. This had good flow and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was quite varied although there were no fresh fruit juices - only bottled "drinks". This was a good base for a short break and was good value for money.

Great location in center, near old town and walking distance to Piata Unirii, where are beautiful fountains. Did go in very early morning to Transilvania trip and it was so comfortable to walk from apartement 2 minutes to meeting point, next to Grand Hotel Bucharest. Loved the view from the balcony to the city. Very nice and friendly communication with owner through Whatsapp. Everything needed was in apartement, so did feel really good there. Thank you :)

A beautiful hotel, really classy decor and good staff. The front desk were polite and helpful in answering questions. The restaurant staff were very nice and the cleaning staff friendly too. The location is excellent, just a two minute walk to old town. Many taxis available if you wanted to leave the immediate city centre. The hotel was just being decorated for Christmas as we were leaving and the decorations looked magical.

Very nice hotel. The room was very big and clean. The beds and the sofa were very comfortable. Always hot water. Quiet room. The hotel is 3km far from the city centre but its a nice walk and in half an hour you can reach the old town. Next to the hotel there are many coffee shops and restaurants (noodle bars etc) as well as a super market. The staff are very polite and very helpful. Our stay was very good.
