To all my fellow travellers: don't miss this place. It has just opened, they are still adding new services, and it is already a little wonder: The lodge, which is a little higher than the road, offers and magnificent view and it is placed very near to the entrance of Akagera national park. There is no closest hotel, except for those in the park itself; The rooms, which draw their character from the beautiful wooden style, are incredibly confortable, well designed, with a little terrasse perfect to read in this magic atmosphere; The swimming pool is simple but perfect to relax after the "African massage" of the safari road, with a beautiful view; The restaurant also points to the mountain in front, it has the same wooden style, a nice bar and a view to the kitchen to see the Chef in action; The place is also thought well so that it is serving and benefiting the community around: not only is it ecological and affordable, Akagera Park Inn buys its food from the local farmers, it is building a local shop to promote local crafts, it is working with local guides and massage centers, it aims to make its economic adventure an inclusive one that benefits the community. And of course, I have to mention the team who made everything to ensure that I had a good stay. For example, I received a warm welcome with fresh fruit mocktail and warm towel, they offered a little lunchpack for the safari, were extremely flexible with dinner and breakfast time, and put me in contact with the Ellie, a wonderful young guide who showed me around, took me for a brochette and some banana wine after the safari.

Our stay at Akagera Transit Lodge was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived in Kigali, the service was outstanding. The lodge arranged seamless transportation for my family and me from Kigali to Akagera, ensuring a stress-free start to our adventure. During our Safari trip in Akagera National Park, the lodge’s commitment to excellent service continued. They made sure we had everything we needed for a memorable experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. One of the highlights was the breathtaking view from the lodge. It provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation after our safari excursions. The lodge also organized our transport from Rwanda to my home village in Tanzania, which was handled flawlessly. Overall, Akagera Transit Lodge offers a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The service was impeccable. The rooms were rustic but beautiful. High end glamping. Food was delicious. To date, the most unique place I have stayed. Will book again on subsequent trips to Rwanda.

We had an amazing stay at Rutete Ecolodge! Julienne welcomed us in her little paradise with drinks at the the fireplace. After that, we had a delicious dinner cooked with ingredients she grows on site. She even went te extra mile baking a cake after I mentioned it was my birthday! I can only recommend staying here!

This place is in incredible. The staff do so much to make you feel so comfortable as soon as you pull up. We were greeted so warmly and Petite took us for an awesome stroll around the village and to see the sunset. We also had an opportunity to talk to the owners about some of the amazing work they do with the community and to meet some of the children they support. On top of all of that, the food and customer service was absolutely superb! Do yourself a favour and stop here to meet the staff! They have a coffee shop and awesome little bar too. Hope to be back soon! Jean, Petite, Alex and Devina thank you!

The park is beautifully maintained and offers a truly peaceful drive through nature. With the help of our excellent guide, we were lucky enough to see all of the Big Five except the leopard. We even witnessed an intense standoff between lions and giraffes—it felt like a hunt was about to happen! We spent the whole day in the park, but it still felt too short because of how much there is to see and experience. Highly recommend visiting Akagera for anyone who loves wildlife and nature.
