The breakfast was the best. Fresh orange juice, omeletes not just eggs, salmon was wonderful. The buffet had just a little more to try without being too many choices. The room had two single beds pushed together. My wife hates that. But, overall, nice sized room 201. We would have had dinner there but the restaurant was closed... winter season I guess.     This hotel was a bit of a surprise. Converted from a prison, you definitely felt safe on the inside. it's been tastefully redecorated with clean, crisp decor; but you still get the sense of the bigness and intensity of the prison. Architecturally it was a bit confronting at first, but the service was outstanding, the people staying there were friendly and chatty. The rooms were clean and quiet and beds super comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Great value for money.

    Really enjoyed our stay here. It was like staying in an old school hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Had a nice outdoor bar area/deck which was great as we had excellent weather. Also good vale for money.

    Great stay in Mariestad. Clean rooms, calm location, and a host who looks uncannily like Per Gessle – calm, stylish, and unmistakably Swedish. No drama, no fuss – just smooth service and quiet charm. Would stay again!
