This city has mostly working-class Thai people living in it and it shows. You have Terminal 21, night markets, and temples to visit, but everything slows down after 10 pm. Nakhon Ratchasima city is not a typical tourist city, but has got an atmosphere in the back streets which can wake up someone. The city has got some shopping centers, but to get there it is smart to choose correct hotel as they at this time do a lot of road work, so it is not easy to pass roads (rear with pedestrian traffic lifhts in Thailand anyway). We went there because my wife comes from a village outside the city, and we stayed in the city and rented a car. Unlike the posh and modern Bangkok, Korat is a city of hard working and middle class Thai people. Everybody is nice and polite, but you can't really find English speakers.
