Blowing Rock is the prettiest and most dog friendly town.
Blowing Rock is the prettiest and most dog friendly town. If you visit only one North Carolina mountain town, make it Blowing Rock. I wouldn't recommend it for the physically challenged, but for the able bodied, it is a dream destination. Walking is essential. From the streets, to the parks, to shopping, and nearby Bass Lake, you will easily put in around 5 miles a day. Even just driving through is a treat for the eyes. Great room with a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Friendly staff. Very clean facilities. Only complaint was that there are no grab bars on the shower. The Blowing Rock itself is wonderful with amazing views, and great historical information provided. The actual downtown area is very quaint with a nice choice of restaurants and shops; however, the stores/shops are so overpriced that only wealthy individuals can afford to shop there. Also, be prepared to pay a high price for a very basic lunch. Common souvenirs are not affordable and to pay over $10.00 for an ice cream cone is ridiculous.Guest review byDoreenUnited States - 10.0

Blowing Rock is such a neat little town.
Blowing Rock is such a neat little town. The perfect size to stroll around and check out all the local pottery and wonderful restaurants. We ate at Stories on Main and the Speckled Trout. Both were excellent. The pottery shops had such great sales people who had all the information about the local potters. We enjoyed Winterfest festivities as well. The ice carvings, the polar plunge and the Chetola, the food and drinks at the restaurants. It was a fabulous weekend.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States
