Medford itself is a middle sized city with all the stores you might wish for but not a lot of character that I could see in the downtown area. However, it makes an excellent affordable launching pad for exploring the nearby artisan colony/ Shakespeare festival in Ashland and the nearby wine country in surrounding areas. We are at Ruby's (good burritos and burgers) and Rooted (plant based delicious food). Would definitely come again.

If you've been anywhere in Northwest Oregon, then you know...

If you've been anywhere in Northwest Oregon, then you know the state has some of the most beautiful forests, mountain areas, and coastal views in the country. Then you travel into the valley and arrive in Medford—a desolate, dusty place, with few trees and no real views to be had. Respectfully, there are so many more beautiful places in Oregon, Medford is more of a place to pass through (perhaps to get some food or gas) rather than a destination. If we didn't have family in this area, that's exactly what I'd be doing. Perhaps try Ashland, 20 minutes down the road, which actually has trees and a cute downtown.

Medford was a biggish generic city.

Medford was a biggish generic city. It has every kind of store and convenience you might want but I wasn’t able to pick up any character. But, it’s close to Ashland, home of the Oregon Shakespeare festival, which is an artisan haven and bursts with charm. We found Rooted was a great plant-based restaurant and especially loved the brownie ice cream sundae.

I truly enjoyed Watching the tweakers in their natural habitat for there are simply like mere cats running from bridge to bridge popping up every so often to see if the mighty owl aka metro police is coming for they know the Xbox then game up not not to mention all the people in white painter shoots whistling tunes all the same tune for this is a very strange place much like Alice-in-Wonderland I wonder if we eat the mushrooms here if I were a taller not to mention the LSD that was quite amazing there's a place called Ashlyn bunch of naked people running around it was cool my next trip to Eugene hurts me better till we meet again

Being native Oregonians who moved to Idaho, we realize that the homeless situation isn't the responsibility of local businesses. But the situation is so bad there. There are even people loitering in the common area all day long next to your hotel. It's the only downside of visiting Oregon.

    Medford has changed drastically.

Medford has changed drastically. We used to stop there when we traveled between California and Washington at least four times a year. It is now been taken over by the homeless population the entire west side of the highway is nothing like it used to be. All of the businesses are closed down and these poor homeless people are crowded into former store fronts, parking lots and run down hotels. It is NOT the town it once was. Clearly, Medford does not have the resources available to address the homeless population and it is extremely sad to see these people suffering

Becca is an excellent receptionist, she has an impressive human quality, charismatic, attentive, jovial, I have no words to express the good service she gave us even though the facilities are not what the photos reflect at the time of reception, Becca makes the stay at the motel super pleasant. My family was very grateful for all the attention she gave us and we would return to the hotel. Simply because of the service of the receptionist, it is excellent.
