Minturn, CO, is a gem of a town that is perfectly situated west of Vail. Yes, it's expensive, but, hey, it's Colorado and it's not Vail. I love how the town is not overrun by AirBNBs or Virbo properties. The mountain playgrounds are so close and so amazing. Love, Love, LOVE Minturn!

Minturn is an adorable Colorado Mountain Town which is a blast especially on the week of July 4th. Free Thursday concerts on the Little Beach on the Eagle River and the Minturn Market every Saturday are both delightful. The nearby hiking is tremendous!! Would definitely return, except realize this is Close to Vail and Reflects VAIL PRICES!

delightful old mining town in narrow valley, centrally located just off I-70 (2 miles), but close enough to Vaill if those facilities required. 'Minturn Sunrise' is good for breakfast. A very good Mexican restaurant in the old rail-station area. An excellent Thai restaurant is located on the main street.

It's a quiet town in mud season but the best time to experience the Rocky Mountains like a local. Amazing limitless hiking opportunities are literally right out your door. Minturn Anglers is one of the coolest fly shops in Colorado and I've been to most of them. The Eagle flows right through town with unlimited access. Rocky Mountain Taco is the best tacos in the valley. They do not cut corners on ingredients and have a very cool setup with a huge outdoor patio. As far as food, there are plenty of options if you are staying there short term and everyone is friendly, even to red-eyed weary travelers.

This is a really cute town and we would've liked to stay longer to enjoy local hikes and go for a bike ride. Minturn Saloon has great food and service, and the outdoor dining area is a great location -- along the water with views of the mountain! Parking was easy in the summertime -- we parked right in front of the Minturn Inn and didn't need to move at all during our stay unless we wanted to.
