Anyone that goes to New Iberia should take the trip to Avery Island and the Jungle Gardens. This is definitely a value excursion for you money, especially if you like learning history, hands on and exploring/easy hiking in the Gardens. Another treat was "Duffy's Diner, " where we had dinner one night and ice cream the next night. The price for the room was reasonable. Some fixtures were old or outdated and needed to be replaced, ie carpet, lamp switches. It was clean except for the stained and worn carpet which may have been clean but did not appear so. The staff was friendly and called me by name as we exchanged greetings on passing. The breakfast was good with some hot items.The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable. The location was safe.
