This hotel is located in a quaint part of town. I felt safe walking about and I saw no need for law enforcement to be roaming the streets. Initially we were disappointed by Portland - downtown main area was pretty empty and full of people on drugs etc. After going on a coast tour we got tips on best areas and fell in love with it very quickly. It's all about the neighbourhoods. We loved the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden was stunning (we have been to Japan and my husband lived there so have some comparison). We loved Alberta Arts District, Nob Hill, Powell's City of Books and the Saturday market by the river and farmer's market. We also saw live music in NE area and ate very well wherever we went.
