Had a quick stay here.
Had a quick stay here. Tried a steakhouse in Rawlins but it was not very good and was overpriced and the bar was out of basic items. There was one wine selection to choose from. The city is nice & we probably should ask the locals for food advice next time we travel through.

Rawlins was a great place to visit.
Rawlins was a great place to visit. There were many things to do while we were there. Also plenty of places to eat and stay at. The best place we ate at was Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse. What a really awesome place to eat at. The food the staff it was all great. I highly recommend it.

On a hot day, there was a much cooler place to park a car in the shade at the ACT site. It is very easy to drive around and to get gas in Rawlins. People were using Rawlins for outdoor recreation, using bikes and backpacks.

If your comfortable enough with extremely ice cold winds...
If your comfortable enough with extremely ice cold winds that rip through regularly and winter driving conditions and your not big on crowded towns with all those shopping malls than it's a good place to go.
Especially for hunters,there's a lot of game out there and those of you who like photographing colorful sunrises and sunsets,Rawlins has a huge sky that often has so many vibrant colors you can't tell if your looking at the morning sky or setting sun.
Great panoramic views!😁
Don't speed here though,they are very serious about that 30 mph😅

The manager was amazing.
The manager was amazing. We arrived at 11 pm the office closed at 10 pm. we called, he answered got up and got us settled. The room was clean and everything worked. The next morning he got us some ice and we were off on our way.

I did not enjoy my time in Rawlings.
I did not enjoy my time in Rawlings.
I could not get any phone service during my time there.
Just a bad feeling when I saw the hotel we booked online. The photos were not representative of the hotel and felt disappointed when we got there. We decided to move on to another town and left after checking into the hotel. I’m sure there are nice hard working people there and perhaps the town is great but upon our short visit we were not able to find a good reason to stay.

The hotel has, clearly, had a lot of work done inside. It looked a bit tired on the outside as we arrived but we're pleasantly surprised by how clean and modern it was inside. The room was comfortable and spacious amd breakfast was better than most budget hotels
The manager was really helpful and allowed us in our room slightly early as we had rode our bicycles out of the desert and needed to get cleaned up.

Large and clean room. Decent WiFi. Rawlins has an interesting history and there are two very good museums a mile or so from 1st Choice Inn: the Penitentiary and the Carbon County. I stayed in over a dozen motels on this road trip and this accommodation had one of the best breakfast offerings, including freshly made waffles. Allowed an early check-in too.

The owner/Manager was extremely helpful in many ways related to the Teton National Park and to the fine cuisine in the Rawlins area. We would definitely stay at this location again on a future trip.
