Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor.
Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor. It is very walkable, with several restaurants and shops. It is a short drive to the Bass Harbor lighthouse and Acadia National Park. The city dock is open to the public, and you can get some good pictures of the harbor from the dock. I took my wife to the Red Sky restaurant for her birthday. We wished we could have stayed longer as we liked the place.
We wished we could have stayed longer as we liked the place. Next time we will try to come back during the high season as the area was getting ready for the spring and therefore not all shops yet re-open. We stayed in Southwest Harbor because it was the calmer side...
We stayed in Southwest Harbor because it was the calmer side of the island. We spent most of our time in Acadia and Bar Harbor which was very busy with lots of people so having a calm place to stay and regroup was perfect for us. There was a coffee shop with delightful pastries and Ice cream place nearby. Thurston's lobster pound is where to go for a great experience, it was in Bass Harbor not to far from place of stay.Guest review byNicholeUnited States

Manuel greeted us very warmly and gave us a quick tour before showing us to our room and helping us with our luggage. We really enjoyed the decor of our room and of the dining area, and the bed and bedding was super comfy! While we didn’t take advantage of the pool and hot tub, the outdoor space was lovely. The property manager answered my phone call on the first ring when I got the door PIN number wrong. I mistakenly used the booking site pin number not the one he sends in his greeting email so remember to refer to it. The drive to Bar Harbor for food was not very long and the accessibility to Acadia was outstanding.
