Wrightsville is convenient to folks in the Triangle; it's only a 2 hour drive. This place gets SUPER crowded during the summer months though. Fall was a spectacular time to visit - the weather was perfect & the crowds have subsided. Do yourself a favor & walk beyond the Shell Island Resort. There are tide pools & miles of shoreline to explore. It's a beach walk not to be missed. Great local food options too. Beautiful beaches, lots of places to eat nearby and very low key. If you are looking for a long weekend but the beach, this is your spot! We loved "The Drift" for breakfast and if you want a cool place for after dinner go to Concord Espresso Bar. The Flight of Espresso Martinis and S'mores are great. I love Shell Island Resort!
I love Shell Island Resort! We go every year to celebrate my birthday. We always enjoy that each room has an ocean view. We love the easy access to the beach. The Oceanic Restaurant is wonderful, especially sitting out on the pier with the moon rising. We loved the sunset cruise too, and learned many interesting things about the area.
