The National Park is exceptional, as most National Parks are in South Africa. The curio shop was quaint and not too highly priced. Although the area experienced much rain, we could get around comfortably with our SUV. We had a good lunch at the restaurant. Service was excellent and friendly. We especially enjoyed the information and photos of previous floods at the main offices. The viewing areas were well-maintained even though some paths were closed for renovation. We still managed to see everything. Typically, one should spend about 20 minutes or more per viewing area in order to capture the beauty and tranquility of the park.

I visited the main falls viewing platform and the next three...

I visited the main falls viewing platform and the next three to the left; the first three were closed because of the height of the river. The views were absolutely stunning and exceeded my expectations. Witnessing the river's raw power is extremely humbling. I ate at the Augrabies Falls restaurant, which was extremely disappointing. The waiters looked so demotivated, and it seemed like they were doing us a favour. We waited a very long time for two cold cappuccinos and a burnt waffle, and ice cream. We witnessed at least two families sit at a table full of dishes and wait to get served with no waiter even taking notice, only for them to get up and leave. I couldn't travel around the park as most of the roads were closed because of water running through the park. It would also be nice if a few more markers were put up indicating directions to the viewpoints. We stumbled through the bush and mud to get to a walkway called "Augrabies Monster", only to find that part of the walkway had been swept away.

My stay at the Falls was really great and exceptional.

My stay at the Falls was really great and exceptional. The welcome was a most friendly welcome with clear communication. The accommodation was of a high standard, which met all our needs. The breakfast was well prepared and served, which we enjoyed.

    Choose Avonsrus for your stay.

Choose Avonsrus for your stay. Be at the Augrabies gates early, few minutes drive from Avonsrus, Falls were SPECTACULAR! Enjoyed a natural shower at the look-out points. (Pity we could not see Moon Rock or do the game drive, etc as it was closed due to road being damaged during rain. Would recommend mentioning that when entering he Park )

Augrabies Falls is a must do once in your lifetime.

Augrabies Falls is a must do once in your lifetime. We tied it in with the flower season which means a lower water flow, but still amazing. The Orange river is also a must do at this location. We visited the Kamkirri resort to see the river and it did not disappoint. Our accommodation at the Falls Guest House exceeded our expectations. Absolutely immaculate, we were warm and comfortable.

A visit to the falls is always worth it , what ever the flow...

A visit to the falls is always worth it , what ever the flow rate of water. However it is very clear that despite well trained and friendly staff the site suffers from neglect. A considerable proportion of the view site boardwalks are cordoned off as damaged areas show no sign of being repaired. Flood damage occurred about 18 months ago (so we were told) and it is very difficult to understand why a premier tourist destination does not receive priority from SAN Parks head office. We last visited Augrabies five years ago and heard the same story from staff, little, none or very difficult to get, support from Pretoria. Shame on you SANParks!

Other worldly. For all those adventurous couples this destination may be a little out of the way from Kakamas but so worth the trip. The scenery, the hosts, the cottage is more than expected. We were able to do many activities from 4 x 4 drive to the most amazing lookout point - hot springs in Riemvasmaak, the wine/gin/brandy tasting at De Mas in Kakamas were easy to access but the drive into the Augrabies by Angelo of Daberas, the warm weather, stars at night, the rose quartz dazzle were food for the soul. Will be back!

Very friendly staff makes you só welcome. A glass of sherry on arrival. The owner walked in and immediately came over to greet us, and talked to us. Spacious rooms and excellent bedding and mattresses. The bathroom is huge with bath & shower, twin basins, quality soap and lotions. Tea& coffee station with delicious petite rusks. The restaurant dinner was delicious, the breakfast was also ok. Beautiful swimming pool and patio around the pool. Not far from main road, and near Augrabies falls.

I was welcomed in by friendly smiling faces, first impressions count a lot and I was immediately made to feel welcome and at home. Its a very relaxed setting and the the dinner was delicious! The room was comfortable and clean, I left too early for breakfast but I'll hopefully get to enjoy that on another visit sometime. Proximity to the Augrabies falls is great too, just a few minutes drive down the road.
