This place is a step back in time and is amazing. The owners are the some of the nicest people you can ever hope to meet. I arrived on a Sunday during a motorcycle trip through Cape and had managed to get a puncture. It didnt take long for the owner to have the bike in their own workshop wheel off and on it way to being repaired. The hotel is actively involved in the motorcycle scene in the area was soon introduced to other who came to chat Motorcycle travel. What an awesome evening and a great sleep.

Although the Casita is the little studio cottage on the property it felt very private. Excellent bathroom and bedroom. Perfect for a couple passing through De Rust for a few nights. Rus in De Rust is probably one of the nicest places we have stayed before

The scenery and friendly host. Barry took us on an unplanned 4 X 4 trip to explore the farm which was amazing and much appreciated. A wild tortoise welcomed us and there was a good verity of birds.

    The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay.

    The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. There is a large back patio with built-in braai, protected from the water and a front stoep to soak in the beautiful views. The bathrooms are really spacious with large walk in showers. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. There is no TV but fast wifi so streaming from your phone is easy.

    It is a very quaint and tranquil little town bout 30 km from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. There is an ample amount of restaurants and wine shops and a few souvenir shops. Spending a full day to experience the real charm of the little village. While there take a short drive into Meiringspoort and discover CJ Langenhovens carved stone with the inscription Herry, which was the name of his imaginary elephant or travel up to the waterfall, all a mere 10 or 12 kim from De Rust.

    De Rust is a beautiful, picturesque town and good for your mental health to get away and re-charge. The eatery/shop in De Rust, called Pluim/ Frieda Schoeman is highly recommended. Well worth a visit

    De Rust is a small rustic town ideal for an overnight stop enroute somewhere else. Everything is within walking distance. The town is spotlessly clean, people are very friendly and helpful. It is surrounded by magnificent mountains and very close to the must see Meirings Poort. Lovely coffee shops for breakfast and lunch with one restaurant open for dinner.

    A small town surrounded by the great outdoors. Close to Meiringspoort and the waterfall. A great stopover for coffee or a meal or to get well basic necessities if you stay in the area. The Domein Doornkraal padstal is an absolute must on the way to Oudtshoorn. Stay at Aardts cabin if you staying over in the area.

    Such a pleasure to experience this farm stay. Had the option to order meat and salad for a braai before arrival, which was on the table/fridge on arrival. Ostrich prime steak was a first for us and delicious! Beautiful views and peaceful. Karla was most helpful with info we needed. Meiringspoort is breathtaking as is the waterfall. De Rust itself is a gorgeous little town. De Rustic Olive Farm...wow!

    If you seek super luxury don't stay at Hotel De Rust. If you love the idea of a functioning welcoming Karoo hotel this is the place. The owners and helpers could not have done more to make this a great stop. Or maybe they could have if we gave them the chance. Very much recommended.
