really warm hearted, welcoming staff! We had an apartment with a small private pool and sea view. It was amazing!! So sad to leave after just one night. We loved Hermanus! Could spot some whales just 1 minute walking distance from the hotel :)

This hotel is a true gem! Right on the beautiful Grotto Beach it is a slice of paradise. We stayed in the beautiful Southern Right Suite, and a suite is is!! The sliding glass doors open to the beach, the breakfast is served on the terrace with views in the beautiful garden. In the evening you enter your room to a burning fire and sit with a sherry watching the fire and listening to the waves. In walking distance is a nice restaurant you can walk to on the beach. The pool is small, but heated and adds up to the perfect experience.

we had a ocean view room and would highly recommend to go for this, as waking up to the sunrise overlooking the water and seeing the sunset from the bed is really special. don’t think I have ever been to a hotel with such undisturbed views of the ocean. the rooms are large and nicely equipped with a free mini bar (non alco), and over all service was top! breakfast was nicely prepared made to order. it’s located 5-10 min outside of hermanus, so you need to drive to restaurants, but it’s worth the effort.

The location is WOW! The views are outstanding, and the hotel is so central. The seating area and pool is beautiful. The reception area is full of character. Our room exceeded all expectations! Beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. A woodfire heated hot tub (fabulous), the room was really big, exceptionally clean, smart tv, fridge, beautiful free-standing bath in the room with bath salts. It was truly gorgeous. Loved it. Staff at reception were beyond helpful! So informative about local tours etc and even rang and booked dinners for us when we were dining elsewhere.

    Going there at the end of September allowed to enjoy great weather and an opportunity to see whales during the start of the whale season. The city was not very busy during the week, but weekend it gets busier than usual. We had the Grotto beach all to ourselves from the morning, midday the sun is very hot during Spring or summer, thus a good time to head for some lunch at nearby resturants to enjoy ocean meals or popular flame grilled meat. The neighbourhood is calm and suitable to walk around in Hermanus centre.

    Hermanus has a place in my part....always has.

    Hermanus has a place in my part....always has. It's beautiful and serene and food for the soul. The whales are of course, the main attraction. But Hermanus is like a real breathe of fresh air.

    A beautiful town on the coast 100km from Cape Town.

    A beautiful town on the coast 100km from Cape Town. There are lots of activities to enjoy - whales, walks, wine tasting and excellent restaurants. A boat trip into Walker Bay is definitely worthwhile.

    Hermanus & Vermont has everything to make a good holiday! "41 0n Siffie" had a lot of surprises in the kitchen - for example a microwave, a braai, hot pot and many other things that I wasn't expecting!

    Great place and saw whales, great eating places, shops etc. Lovely views and safe beachfront walks. Lots of places nearby like Stanford and many excellent wine farms in the Hemel and Aarde Valley road.

    The establishment is very serene, well looked after and it has all the amenities not to mention an exceptional view of the ocean. Most importantly, it’s managed and owned by the warmest hosts and it offers the most wholesome breakfast! We will definitely be going back!

    Quiet, well maintained and run hotel. The rooms are very nice and it is worth to book the seaview rooms with super view onto the coast... We even saw whales in the bay jumping out of the water and play around... Exceptional staff, always very helpful, kind and here for the guests. The courtesy shuttle to Hermanus worked very well. The location just at the coastline is superb, even though a bit far out of Hermanus. But, with the shuttle no problem.

    Everything about the hotel is good! Very comfortable rooms which are tastefully decorated. Very friendly and helpful attentive staff. Restaurant cuisine is tasty and well priced. Senior management are hands on to ensure top quality service. Wonderful central location in Hermanus overlooking the sea within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and coastal path. There is nowhere better to stay in Hermanus.
