Outstanding 5-star hotel in a historic building on a hill directly on the estuary. The hotel offers all the amenities that guests expect in this category. In the spa area there is a heated indoor pool with various whirlpools, fitness room, sauna and steam bath.
The breakfast buffet is rich, varied and good. Even with boiled shrimps and champagne! The hotel has two restaurants, one of which is a “gourmet temple”. The rooms are scrupulously clean and luxuriously furnished.
The staff are extremely friendly and competent. We were picked up from the parking lot with an umbrella on arrival and directed to reception. We didn't have to worry about our luggage on arrival or departure.

The hotel was in a quiet location but within minutes walk of the River Douro and all its facilities, restaurants, entertainment, and with lots of things to see and do.
We found it a relaxing haven to get away from the crowds. Tea and coffee- making facilities were provided in our room, which was quite spacious.
There was an excellent choice for breakfast to suit all tastes.
Above all we found all the staff to be very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
We stayed there on two separate occasions both before and after our river cruise and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The resort is the perfect place to spend your last day before heading back to the airport or for close access to Ponta da San Lorenco. The facilities are really nice. My husband and I enjoyed the restaurant, tennis court, and pools immensely.
However, the hospitality we were shown was really what made this stay so incredible. I caught a cold while I was here and the front desk had tea sent to my room without us asking. They also asked me how I was feeling whenever they saw us, and really went above and beyond in every way.
