All air conditioned and with exposed stone walls, rooms here come with a flat-screen TV and a minibar. The en suite bathroom is complete with a hairdryer. We were upgraded to a suite on arrival and received a welcome drink. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. we had a gorgeous view from outside our cave and breakfast on the terrace not only had the most magnificent view but also very delicious with a wide variety of foods.

Our room was beautiful and full of character — the bathroom was set directly in the cave, which gave it such a unique and authentic touch. One of the highlights was definitely the view: right from our window we had a breathtaking panorama of Matera, perfect at any time of day. The location couldn’t have been better. We had no issues at all with our luggage, and the direct shuttle to the hotel made arrival super easy. Once there, we were within walking distance of everything — it’s perfectly situated to explore the Sassi and the historic center. What really made the difference was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They gave us excellent recommendations for food and activities, helped with reservations, and made us feel completely at home. A big plus for us: we were traveling with our dog and everything went smoothly. And breakfast? Just as amazing as everything else — fresh, local, and delicious. Highly recommend staying here if you want the full Matera experience with comfort, charm, and warm hospitality

Ridola Hotel was designed in 1872 by Leonardo Ridola, a famous local architect. It still has original vaults and pavements, and its façade features a solar clock from the 1900s. Great accompdation and very lovely staff.

The In Pietra is set in a converted monastery from the 13th century. Today it offers a large hall, a reading room and a wine cellar. One of the most unique and amazing experiences one could have! Anyone must stay at least for a night in a cave room and that room is probably one of the best. The room was clean, with an amazing bed, great atmosphere and hot tub and sauna were adding a lot to the whole experience. The staff was also very helpful! Reason to visit Matera again in the future.

A sweet and savoury breakfast is offered daily and is served in a converted cave. Breakfast includes hot drinks, croissants, cheese and cold meats. Very big room, with the cave behind where you can relax and drink wine. Very nice staff, explained me a lot about the town.

Air-conditioned rooms all feature a flat-screen satellite TV, a seating area and fully fitted private bathroom with a shower. Perfect place, in the middle of the old town. Accessible from the main train station (15 minutes walk), otherwise taxi can park really near (like 50 meters, one stairs). Fantastic host, Monica, responsive, helpful, talkative, superb, recommended pizzeria to us :) and helped us when the train was delayed (a lot delayed). The room was clean, well prepared, very nicely finished. We would return here any time and on our next visit to Matera we will stay here.
