The property is a beautiful old building with upgraded facilities. It was charming, quiet and elegant with a beautiful garden.

Very tidy place and private, too. The continental breakfast was impressive and tasty, with no single use plastics! We were very pleased with this place overall.

Very comfortable and well appointed and equipped large room with reading chairs and small table and chairs for breakfast and access to a lovely yard that my husband enjoyed for reading later in the evening.

She arranged a taxi for the following morning and managed to pack a few goodies for breakfast as we were leaving at 07.45hrs. We were a little stressed on arrival and tired from our long journey. Featuring stunning views of Wellington’s beautiful harbour, Hippopotamus Restaurant is open daily for breakfast and high tea is served Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The Gallery Lounge offers all day dining and drinks. Great central location and within walking distance of the Cable Car Terminal, Te Papa Museum and a variety of restaurants in the area. The on site restaurant whilst a limited menu, had a good variety and from what I had, was decent. All throughout the hotel had attentive staff on hand.
