Hotels in Rutaki, Rarotonga

We loved our stay at JJ'sRetreat! Jason & Jaime are wonderful hosts. They were so friendly and easy going and shared a lot of knowledge about the island. They have a wonderful slice of paradise in Rarotonga at JJ's Retreat. The self-contained villa had everything we needed for our 10 day stay. It was very clean and tidy, the kitchen was well equipped with cooking equipment and basic cooking ingredients such as oil, salt and pepper, and a great BBQ so we could cook our own meals. Tea/coffee/milk for the first day was provided, as was basic toiletries, but we brought most of what we needed with us from NZ or bought from the local supermarket/take away, Wigmore's, which is a short easy 10 min cycle down the road. Water in the villa is filtered for drinking. The gardens around the property are beautiful and well kept, along with the swimming pool which we enjoyed everyday! We were so lucky to be the only couple there so we had the whole place to ourselves. The property is set back from the main ring road (5 min walk) so it is very quiet and peaceful. The Raro bus will pick you up/drop you off at the main road and so it is very easy to get around without a car. JJ's is located close by to the best snorkelling on the island - Fruits of Raro to the east and Aroa to the west. The bikes provided allowed us to cycle to Aroa beach to enjoy snorkelling at our own pace. We also cycled to Wigmore's Waterfall for a swim and picnic. After adventuring every day it was wonderful to come back to our villa and enjoy our evening on the deck. The use of the washing machine was great too, and there was a phone to call local numbers to make reservations. The bed was so comfortable and the villa was kept cool by its design and the wonderful big fan above our bed! They were happy to arrange a late check out for our late flight. Jason & Jaime have thought of all the little details that make a holiday extra special.

Everything just perfect. Communication was excellent and the team were very accommodating and helpful. Spotlessly clean with truly amazing views. Was sad to leave.

The friendly staff, the location next to muri lagoon and all the water toys we could use for free.

We loved that the bungalow was right on the beach front and the very popular night market was held right next door.

Beautiful and recent bungalow, perfect for a couple or solo traveller, in the best location near Muri lagoon, but away from the busy ring road. A short walk takes you to the 24/7 supermarket and Sailing club (great food) as well as the beach. Great restaurants and night market nearby. The bungalow has airconditioning and insect screens on all windows, which made it very pleasant. Owner Miii was a great host, bringing fresh bananas and advice on what to do around the area. There’s a phone to use in the bungalow to book activities. I had the best stay at Muri Serene Villa! Stayed on the other side of the island as well, but would definitely book again here to stay at Muri lagoon.

Nev & Deb made us feel really welcome. The huge deck made it easy to enjoy our holiday even with the range of weather we experienced. Loved the opportunity to catch up on some old favourites on TV at night - especially the IT Crowd. The bed was really comfortable and having breakfast & some grocery essentials in the fridge was a god send after an overnight flight.

Great staff and property, everything is really well thought through. Best resort, food and service on the islands!

Everyone is very friendly, helpful and informative. Lots of space, on-site café and pool. I was met at the airport which was great at 2am! As well as another transfer to Muri, terrific hospitality. Would stay again.
