Be sure you know what you're getting into by going to a ryokan. This is an amazing traditional-style hotsprings inn with attentive staff, excellent in-room breakfast and dinner service, and our room had a private hot spring bath that we enjoyed as much as we could!

We loved the simple luxury of Ohanami Kyubei — our room was elegant and comfortable and we enjoyed sleeping on the futons and sitting out on the balcony. We also appreciated the multiple onsen options, especially the private outdoor baths with views of the gorge and of the sky. All of the staff were exceptionally gracious and helpful and we felt very welcome. The breakfasts and dinners included were delicious and extravagant and varied with each meal. We also liked how easy it was to visit other places in the area through Canbus and through the hotel’s free shuttle to Kagaonsen station. We would love to return, and would highly recommend staying at Ohanami Kyubei for a restorative and romantic vacation.

Amazing stay all around. The staff were extremely friendly and the hot springs by the river were fantastic. The meals were by far the best japanese food I've ever had. Located in a beautiful town with lots of shops and a nice walking trail along the river. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a traditional onsen ryokan experience.

Beautiful area with a wonderful hiking trail. Spacious and warmly decorated rooms with a view onto the river. Welcome drinks were a lovely refreshment.
