Our stay at Ryokan Tori was for sure one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Satako and her husband were so kind and so welcoming -- and the experience that they create for their guests is magical. The ryokan is located in a wonderful part of Kyoto, and we enjoyed exploring the shrines, temples and traditional streets that surround it. After exploring, we returned to a tea ceremony that Satako shared with us. Afterwards we bathed in the onsen, and then slept incredibly well in the traditional bedrooms. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful. We felt like we were in a dream the entire time -- it was an enchanting experience. Our night at Ryokan Tori will stay in my memory and heart forever. Nicely renovated japanese house in the old part of town, about 10 minutes from the imperial palace. Toni and his wife are lovely hosts, it felt like we were guests in their home. The shared facilities are clean and good. We stayed in a smart room were everything was connected, very convenient! Warmly recommend.

I think the interior decoration of this hotel is very beautiful, with a traditional Japanese style. At the same time, the shopkeeper's wife is a kimono teacher. We tried on the kimono here. She was very professional. We tried on a silk kimono. At the same time, the boss and his wife are very friendly. When we first entered the store, we each gave us a Japanese pastry, which was delicious. Thank you for your hospitality.

Wonderful stay!! The room was huge and the personal onsen was very relaxing after walking all day. It is about 10 minutes away from the subway and there are many temples and shrines near by. Staff was amazing and always available for help.

Large and comfortable rooms at the top floor as we booked the compact room, with all the amenities you could wish for and many drink options in the mini bar that are stocked up daily. Location was really good. The best were the staff. Genuinely friendly and going above and beyond to help you, five star hotel staff. The bath was also a nice experience as there is a little window. To look down on traffic. As we were on the top floor, the common area terrace was right next to our room and we loved having a drink with city views.
