Lovely spacious rooms, helpful kind staff, Meals were well prepared and the afternoon tea on check in was a lovely touch. View from room and outdoor bath was stunning, so special. Staff very helpful when we needed extra help to contact local onsen, they were so kind and called ahead for us so we could keep our booking on very short notice.

Rarely write reviews but the experience at Minakami Sansou highly exceeded our expectations. The hospitality was excellent, the rooms clean and beautiful, the hot spring was perfect, and on top of that the food was also well proportioned and delicious. Would stay here again next time we come to Minakami.

The host was very friendly and welcoming. He was respectful and gave us space but had lots of very good suggestions which we enjoyed. He even helped us to set up the bbq pit and get it going so we could bbq, and there were lots of groceries and things that were provided. The facilities are generous: can take 12 guests comfortably with two shower rooms and 4 WCs The place is quiet with easy parking and within short drive (less than 30 minutes) of major outdoor adventure locations. Its a great base camp for outdoor activities. I would love to come again in a different season and see all that minakami has to offer!

Loved being tucked away from town on the orchard. The apples and apple juice were delicious and the owners were super helpful as we had an injury to deal with (a trip to the hospital), and they even gave the sorry sore one a lift home. Amazing hospitality. Would definitely recommend. Very comfortable and spacious with all the required appliances

Craig was a great host, accommodating to his guests, with great sense of hospitality. The location was perfect in the middle of valley, pretty calm and surrounded by greenery. Breakfast was healthy and energetic. Bonus point (on top of great coffee for coffee lovers 😊), the Lodge offers activities such as rafting, canyoning, etc. through local partners with negotiated rates. Memorable experience. Very charming Ryokan with a long >100 year history but well maintained, and spotlessly clean. The room was amazing with a great view of the mountain opposite and the river below. The in-room onsen was definitely the highlight. Alot of effort and attention to detail went into guest comfort and satisfaction. The Kaiseki dinner was amazing, beautifully presented and overwhelming in the number of courses served. Similar for breakfast. And to ensure no guest went hungry, delicious desserts were served for tea, and inari sushi for supper. Heavy snowfall transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland, which was truly a sight to behold. Compliments to Ms Suta and her team.

This lovely Airbnb property is a gem find. It is located very near the heart of the town, you can walk from this property to all the nice cafes and eateries around this place. There’s a weekend market at the town center with crafts workshops for the kids and adults. There’s plenty to do from hikes, water activities (in summer and autumn), onsens (all year round) and skiing. It’s about 30mins drive to ski slopes. The property is fully furnished just bring your toothbrush. You can cook your meals in the lovely kitchen (my husband has kitchen envy now). And if you want to, you can let the owners (who live literally next door btw) know when booking and they can prepare the BBQ pit for you. It has washer&dryer, a lovely bathroom with bathtub. Yes it has free wifi. Great for couples or small families. It has a western bedroom with a queen size bed. There is also a tatami room that sleeps 2. This Airbnb is so nice you don’t want to leave it when you get there!
