The rusty mackerel is full of character a real gem set in a beautiful area ,the staff are amazing ,the rooms are modern and up to date and very comfortable,we arrived late because of sat nav problems earlier in our journey and when we got there the kitchen had shut ,but the staff reopened for us and cooked us the most Fabulous meal ,the staff really go over and beyond to make your stay comfortable,and i would definitely return and recommend it to anyone who is thinking of visiting ireland ,we had seen many rainbows during our stay in ireland and had joked about finding a pot of gold at the end of them ,but we found our own little pot of gold by staying at the rusty mackerel .

Located on the beautiful Donegal coastline, Áras Ghleann Cholm Cille is just a 10-minute drive from the highest sea cliffs in Europe.

We were very satisfied – the accommodation exceeded our expectations and we felt truly great here. The owner was extremely kind and friendly, and they also had excellent tips for interesting places in the area – many of which you won’t even find on Google Maps :). He also recommended a bio shop just across the street, where we discovered algae-based cosmetics, sea salt, and other specialties. Overall, this place has a unique atmosphere and an incredibly positive energy – we would definitely love to come back.

We booked three double bedrooms, which were all very nice, comfortable and clean. Toiletries were also provided. Breakfast was delicious. Helen and her husband are lovely people, responsive at the chat and helpful with recommendations for our stay in Ardare and visit to the county.

Amazing location and the cottage was beautiful and peaceful. Spent most of our time in the cottage reading and listening to the river or sitting in the hot tub watching the waterfalls, while the dogs lay in the garden. Fintra beach was a short drive away, or walk if you want. Grace was very responsive to messages and provided all information we needed for an enjoyable stay. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway in nature ☺️

Location was amazing, 10 minute walk to town through a lively country road, the grounds were perfect with a view of the mountains. We booked the double twin rooms two huge double beds and a balcony on to beautiful garden surrounded by a woodland walk. Staff were very friendly, great vibes, everything and everyone was super relaxed, they absolutely nailed it!!! Hotels like this are few and far between, irish hospitality exemplified, never change!! Lastly the breakfast, finally a breakfast cooked to order with soft eggs, 10/10...definitely coming back and bringing more people next time. Not to be missed

Amazing house in a really good location for exploring the area. The Rusty Mackreal pub was only a few mins walk away. There is a lovely cafe right across the road that does fabulous homemade products. The house was decorated really nice and you could tell the owner put a lot of time in the attention to detail. The bed was really comfy, the house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Pick this house and you won't be disappointed. It was pet friendly so that was an added bonus.

Our host(s) were wonderful. They helped us to feel at home. Wonderful conversation and hooked us up with the longest tenured weaver in Ardara, Mr. Eddie Doherty (who just happens to live across the road.) We visited his shop and were given a demonstration of his weaving. What an amazing process and an amazing gentleman. Breakfast was delicious, and plentiful.
