EVERYTHING! The setting, staff, food, room...I mean EVERYTHING was exceptional. This time my trip to Sri Lanka was quick and involved a lot of movement, but I am so thankful I ended my trip at Rate Wild Coast Tented Lodge. From the moment I entered, I felt like I was in a safari paradise. The staff, waiters, and GM were completely attentive and accommodating. While not the cheapest place I ever stayed, I think it was worth every penny. At first, I was disappointed I didn't have direct beach access as I had booked a pool room (and I thought those were only on the beach), but after settling in for an hour and catching a quick sunbathe I turned around to see a giant elephant on its way to my watering hole...they said it could happen...but I really thought the reality was slim to none...boy was I surprised! Besides all that, all the food and drinks were delicious! And, it cannot be omitted...the coastline! WOW! I have traveled the world and consider myself pretty versed in beautiful coastlines...and I have to say, this is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL I have ever has the opportunity to sit and enjoy! The gigantic rocks, the angry sea, and the soft soft...even without at elephant visit I would have been so enthralled by Rate Wild Coast Tented Lodge. Thank you!!!

Uga chena huts were like a heaven on earth. Amazing scenery, amazing ambience , amazing eco friendly architecture , amazing team to take care of you and pamper you with attention and great food presented in Michelin star way. The safari was, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka and the absolute best way to experience Yala National Park. Our guide, Pramoth, was exceptional—his deep knowledge of the wildlife and his incredible ability to spot all the animals we had hoped to see (and even more!) made the adventure truly special. What set him apart was how he managed to make the experience memorable even after the safari itself, sharing stories and insights that enriched our understanding. A special shoutout to our driver, Chaminda, who was nothing short of a jungle pilot, skillfully navigating the rugged terrain with ease and adding to the thrill. I cannot recommend this experience enough—it’s a must for anyone visiting Sri Lanka!

The camp is beautifully located just outside the Yala national park. Tents were cosy and safe. The staff was welcoming and so kind to us. Food was delicious, a lot of coconut was used. Guided safari and the bushwalk were the highlight of our stay. We learnt a lot about animals and saw some rare night birds as well. Thank you Makini for all the amazing memories. Wish you the best!
