The couple running the resort is incredibly friendly and kind! Upon our arrival, they provided us with a comprehensive overview of the resort’s offerings, including boat trips, the unique experience of eating black eggs on the volcano, restaurant recommendations, and more. Throughout our stay, whenever we encountered them, they genuinely inquired about our daily activities, which was a lovely gesture.

I really enjoyed the hospitality and the way I was treated during my stay. The owner and the two elderly gentlemen helping to manage the property were incredibly kind and polite. They went above and beyond, offering me a ride to the bus station, even though it wasn’t part of the service. Despite the language barrier, communication was easy with the help of Google Translate, and they were always ready to assist with anything I needed. Oh, almost forgot! They also have a really cool art gallery shop on the property, plus a karaoke machine! If you’re into karaoke, you can definitely have a fun time with them in the evening. It’s such a unique and enjoyable touch to the whole experience 😊 I’m very grateful for their warmth and generosity. Thank you so much, I’ll definitely come back next time! 🤗

We had a wonderful two night stay over the new year holiday at Mori no Yado. Knowing we would be there during a time when businesses might be closed we reached out in advance to get help securing dinner reservations and our host was extremely responsive and helpful in getting the bookings. The guesthouse is located at one of the bus stops so it was convenient to get to from Hakone-Yamato station. We stayed in the Katura room which was large enough for our family of four. The ladder up to the lofted sleeping area is steep and narrow but wasn’t an issue for us. The room was very clean and comfortable. Each day we had an hour booked at the onsen which was a relaxing way to end our day of sightseeing and hiking. Even though bathroom facilities are shared there was never an issue. There were two shared sinks outside of our room and two toilets. Everything was very clean and we never had to compete with other guests. The best part of our stay was the warm hospitality shown to us by our hosts. The woman who runs the guesthouse was very communicative about our dinner plans and helpful in getting us to our early train on the morning of our departure. Breakfast was delicious and filling. We also enjoyed New Year’s Eve soba which was delicious and fun. There is a cute dog on site and outdoor seating areas to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Overall a wonderful and memorable stay!

Very charming guesthouse, it was great to have access to an onsen for such a cheap place. Surprised by how good the amenities were too, lots of bathroom products available and even a hair straightener. The bar/restaurant was simple and cosy, great for easy access food and drink. Lovely vibe to the place and adorable dog.

We had a fantastic stay at Hakone Guesthouse. The host was incredibly lovely and offered to drive us to Hakone Gora Park on our first day. The host also spoke very good English. The rooms were capsule-style and very clean. The other guests were very quiet and respectful. The location was fairly convenient - a 30 minute walk to Gora Station and close by buses that are serviced by the Hakone Free Pass.

The double bed capsule was super spacious and really cheap at under 20£ a night. The hostel staff were very friendly and helpful in answering all my questions about sightseeing. Nice and quiet at night and free tea and coffee was a bonus!

I love this little guest house. It was right very close to one of the best modern sushi restaurants I've been to. The host was amazingly helpful and very very friendly. It's quite small but it's very quaint and cute. The room is quite big though for what we needed. It is Japanese style so beds on the floor which were comfy and warm.
