First I have to thank Joye for being super nice and helpful, he was in touch before I arrive and managed to book for me tour and sort everything to make my stay wonderful. The hotel is located in the middle of the old town in a beautiful old Chinese house, I loved my room with the spa bathtub, it was like going back in time to live a Chinese’s dynasty. Joye spoke excellent English and his assistant was nice enough to pick me and my luggage from the South Gate to to the hotel, they were doing everything to make my stay comfortable. Joye also booked for me jade snow mountain tour and recommended amazing restaurants. Thank you for all the help, highly recommend this place :)

Dali Yunxi Boutique Inn features accommodation situated 700 metres from the centre of Dali and provides a garden and a bar. The property has mountain and quiet street views, and is a few steps from Erhai Gate. The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. By far the best hotel during our stay in Yunnan. Great position, nice and clean rooms, good homemade breakfast. The hosts both know english and are very communicative and helpful. We felt very welcome.

It is perfect if you want to hike the trails and want to do it over 2 days. Zhuoma and her family looked after our family very well. Her son was our driver who was reliable and punctual. They can help with organising trips. We ended up staying extra two days because we loved this special place and Zhuoma’s hospitality.

Lijiang Ancient Town is an 11-minute walk from Mama Naxi Guesthouse. Lijiang Railway Station is an 18-minute drive away. Lijiang Sanyi Airport is 20 km from the property. Review from solo frugal traveler MAY23: I had the double private bedroom with private bathroom. Here are the pro's of this location: You're a block away from the bus terminal depot (If you opt to take the bus to or from Shangri-la/Dali/Remote towns, a short walk to the guest house). Around 10 min walk to the entrance Oldtown and Zhongyi Market (Night Market with yummy food hawkers around 1800). Number 18 bus to and from the Lijiang Railroad Station. After you walk out of the guesthouse's compound, you're on the street with plenty of places to eat with the locals. I ate lunch and breakfast there and got a little bit of the local atmosphere instead of the touristy old town. The room was very clean. There's a second indoor patio deck to hang out after a long day out.

I like the location of the hotel, right in the center of the ancient city, and I also like the friendly people here - Jiuyue, Xiaoli, Mandy and all.

From the moment we arrived, they treated us not just as guests, but like old friends. As it was our first time in Shangri-La, Rose’s tips and advice were incredibly helpful. She gave us detailed guidance on what to see and do around town, local restaurant recommendations, and even how to get to each place. Her insights really helped us make the most of our stay. She also helped us call for Didi rides and even woke up as early as 6am to accompany us outside and make sure everything went smoothly. Every morning, she prepared a delicious breakfast at our preferred time, always served with a smile and friendly conversation. She shared lovely stories about Shangri-La — what it was like in the old days versus now — which added so much depth to our experience. Her husband kindly picked us up from the airport and was equally warm and welcoming. He also offers transportation and guiding services to out of town attractions, which is a great option for anyone wanting a more convenient and insightful visit. On our last day, Rose recommended we go to Balagezhong instead of Shika Mountain — and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip! The inn itself has a cozy, homely feel. Rose even upgraded our room to the second floor with a beautiful view. Though the stairs are a bit steep, she insisted on helping us carry our large luggage. The location is excellent — right inside the Ancient Town, just steps from shops, restaurants, the Giant Prayer Wheel, and the central plaza where you can enjoy Tibetan dancing every evening. Being on the edge of the old town also made it super convenient for catching a Didi — only a 1–2 minute walk, so no need to haul luggage through narrow streets. Situated in Longpan, 3 km from Tiger Leaping Gorge, Tiger Leaping Half Way Guest House features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Free WiFi and room service are offered. We stayed here overnight while hiking along tiger leaping gorge. It's in a fantastic location with great views. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helped us book transport from Tina's back to Lijiang
