We booked our Medan airport to Bukit Lawang transport and the jungle trek with them. From the time of booking till we left the place; Brian and his team were extremely helpful. Sarah cooked delicious dinner for the night. The place is value for money and they even provide good breakfast. Our tour guide for the forest trek was Rosyid & his assistant Theo. They were absolutely amazing and the best throughout. I could complete my trek on the last day because of their motivation throughout. We can't recommend them enough. The food that they served during trek was also really good. Rosyid and Theo went out of their way to help a random guy during the trek who was unwell and made sure to give him the medicines and took extremely good care of him till he got better and help arrived. It didn't matter to him if the guy was part of our group or no and that shows how professional and caring they are. Magic tricks by Rosyid at the campsite was very entertaining. There was also Manto who cooked extremely delicious dinner and breakfast for us and helped with the river tubing. Would definitely recommend staying at Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.

Came to jhony’s for two days trekking tour through the jungle and was an incredible experience, from the start seeing orangutans and many monkeys around , the five start hotel in the jungle for the first night was special and the next day rafting to coming back to our a accomodation in Bukit lawang was the perfect close . I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a comfy and very convenient guesthouse. The staff is really kind and helpfull. They also organize great trekking tours to the jungle. And the location of the guest house is great. Right next to the river. From the terasse you can look down on the river and enjoy the village life.

At the hotel, every room is fitted with a balcony. At Sahnan Guest House the rooms come with a private bathroom. We stayed for 4 nights in the really great Sahnan Guesthouse run by Andri and his family. The rooms are functionally furnished and offer everything you need. However, you shouldn't expect European luxury. It was a perfect 4 days for us. The tours to the bat cave and the 2-day jungle trek were great adventures and are highly recommended if you have enough courage and a very good basic level of fitness. Andri and his family made our stay particularly enjoyable. The food was always excellent and the always open, friendly and supportive nature of all the hosts made us feel almost at home. Andri speaks very good English so that the organisation of all tours and transport was very easy. We would recommend the Sahnan Guesthouse to anyone and would love to come back when we are in Sumatra.
