You cannot be closer to Wilpattu National Park, the park gates are literally in front of the homestay. Lovely family that can organize safari trips for you and meals too! I had an amazing full-day safari and we saw everything! Even the leopards! I also booked with a naturalist and it was definitely worth it. So much fun to learn about all the animals. TOURS: Host Kalhara will organize tours at reasonable rate and his driver is a very nice person. we did a tour and driver was very patient and took us around paddy fields. Meegahapokuna Resort offers accommodation set 4.4 km from the centre of Anuradhapura and features a garden and a terrace. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The guest house features family rooms. We had the best stay at Meegahapokuna. The location is right next to the temple district, which is convenient for sightseeing. The family that runs the place are incredibly kind. They made sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay and helped us to rent bicycles and to find our bus at the station. The husband brought us in their tuktuk to these places. Their cooking is out of this world! We tried many of the dishes on the menu and all contained deep flavours, were freshly made and very filling. Some of the best food we ever had and for a good price. There is a nice 10 minute walk to the lake and the daughters accompanied us, thanks for the lovely chat! Bird-lovers can eat their heart out; while sitting in the relaxing chairs next to the pond at the resort we spotted many waterbirds, kingfishers, pelicans, hornbills, bee-eaters, eagles etc etc They have almost finished building a new, luxurious room at the second floor with great views over the rice fields.

Also the pool is nice and refreshing. We can recommend the elephant safari. It was beautiful and they go when it is not so busy. The workers who did the safari with us even made an aftervideo. We totally recommend Visu Villa!

It’s a bit away from downtown Anaradhapura (like Tuk Tuk distance) but that made it very private and we had no issues with noise. The room was spotless on arrival and everything worked as expected. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the TV was a nice bonus. The beds were comfortable and we slept well! The bathroom had great water pressure and was clean too! We had breakfast there both mornings and dinner once. The dinner was an additional charge but it was well worth it! They fed us so much food and it was all homemade Sri Lankan! We also used the pool both days and that was a nice break from the Sri Lankan heat.
