What really stands out, is the 5-star service by the receptionists. Actually even better than 5 stars, as there's none of the condescending glances one might get at 5-star hotels. :-D I'm especially grateful for the extra help I got from the bilingual Japanese receptionist. Despite hostel-style accommodation, I slept very well and found the bed to be comfy. The place is easy to reach on foot from Magome-juku bus stop, even with a large suitcase, as there's a pavement all the way.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor.

The night at Motomiya Guest House as a whole was a magical experience. The owner is one of the nicest people we've met, our room was big and cosy and the food was simply delicious. Magome is a picturesque village that leaves a great impression and staying at Motomiya Guest House made everything even better. Our favourite night in Japan.

The location couldn't be better. The hotel is small, stylish ,clean and it feels homey. Our room was simple, yet spacious & comfy with a view over the mountains. The shared showers & toilets were very clean.

This is a beautiful home in an amazing location. It really exceeded our expectations in every way. The level of detail put into the construction of the building is a work of art.
