This was our second stay at Ashburnham Estate, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. There’s a rare quality to this place—an effortless elegance and warmth that welcomes you the moment you arrive. The landscape is breathtaking, with rolling hills, and quiet, expansive views. Every detail of the experience feels considered, from the beautifully curated interiors to the gentle rhythm of each day. The food was exceptional, and prepared and served with genuine hospitality. Ashburnham offers not just a break from the everyday, but a complete shift in pace. The whole fteam is gracious and attentive without ever being intrusive, and their warmth and professionalism enhanced the sense of calm and care. I travel a lot, and I don’t believe there’s anywhere quite like it, thank you Vish, Daniel and the team! We will return again I’m sure!

The room was super clean, with large and very comfortable beds. The bathroom was excellent, with its own shower tray and glass screen – not the typical Sri Lankan style where the whole floor gets wet. This made it much more comfortable for us as Europeans. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. The only small point is that to reach the city center you need to take a tuk-tuk, but that was not a problem for us.

It is such a beautiful property with the most kind, helpful and welcoming host family. The food is absolutely incredible and suggested activities for each day were well thought out. Everything was great! :-) Very friendly and welcoming hosts with a beautiful guesthouse and a stunning view from your room. You can choose between different meals and also at which time you would like to eat which is great. The son offered me a ride when I wasn’t able to get a tuktuk 😊👍
