I can't wait to write this review, because the efforts of the owners of this hotel deserve such praise. The experience was beyond expectation, the accommodation was very beautiful, the room was very clean and tidy, the owner was very warm, he would take us to see the fireflies at night, it made me feel like staying at a friend's house. It's comforting to have a healthy and delicious breakfast in the green. They offer free bikes to get around town and also offer inexpensive airport transfers. If you are coming to Negombo and you are tired of the sameness of luxury hotels, I highly recommend you to come here and experience it

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Fun Whales hotel in Negombo, and we had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, the owner and his family warmly welcomed us and made us feel at home. Our room was comfortable and clean with all the necessary amenities, and the hotel's location was ideal for exploring Negombo's attractions, including the beach. One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious sri lankan breakfast.

My partner and I had the best stay at Star Canal Cottage. After receiving a great tuk tuk tour around Negombo from Leon at the start of our trip, we stayed at his guesthouse before our departure too due to his friendliness and consideration. Our room very clean, spacious and light, with a powerful hot shower in the bathroom. The location is great, close to the city centre with restaurants nearby, but down a quiet canal road to enjoy the peace. We read and listened to the birds on the terrace during the day, while drinking home made lime juice before an excellent dinner of home-made prawns from Leon. A wonderfully kind, funny, and diligent host (and now friend), we will recommend Star Canal Cottage to anyone wishing to visit Sri Lanka :)

When you arrive into an unfamiliar country at 4am after 24 hours travel, what you really need is: A clean, friendly, safe environment with a pick up that is guaranteed and hassle free. What we got was exactly this but much more. Deb, the host was smiling when we arrived- no mean feat at 4am. Our room was beautiful and had all facilities including a hot shower( when I turned the dial the correct way. Lol) The property is very stylish. Lots of tips provided. We only spent 7 hours at the property, but it was just what we needed.

For me, the Marcelin family villa was by far the best accommodation during my 4 week trip in Sri Lanka ! The price-performance is unbeatable! The owner Roy is an excellent host he is amazing, and his wife makes the best delicious breakfast I have seen in Sri Lanka. Everything really everything there is spotlessly clean I felt like at home there. Usually I never write reviews, but this accommodation is simply the best! Don't miss it !

Nice room, simple, clean and comfortable.The location is great if you have a flight to catch: we stayed there on our arrival in Sri Lanka and booked it again on our departure. The family who runs this guest house is very nice, helpful and honest. They were a great help for us.

    The family helped us organise transport from the airport to the Homestay and helped us check in even though we arrived late in the night Family were very helpful and welcoming, especially the son who has good English. Clean room, hot water and great location close to restaurants and shops Offered delicious Sri Lankan breakfast for $4pp, very tasty and big portion Would 100% recommend if staying in Negombo

    Although I booked a room without A/C I could take an A/C room with little add on price. The owners are very nice and helpful. The location is next to the beach and to a dive base with restaurant. The owner's daughter runs a scooter and bicycle rental and I rented a good quality bicycle for a fair price. Also they provide pick up and drop off service to the airport. A super breakfast restaurant with prices for locals is available in short walking distance. Highly recommended homestay.

    This has been a wonderful start to our Sri Lanka journey, we loved everything about this guesthouse. The beautiful garden, the clean and comfortable rooms, the lovely host Keneth and the tasty dinner and breakfast. We also had the opportunity to use the bicycles free off charge to get lunch and get some impressions of Negombo, met some nice people on the way. Luckily we will be back to spend the last day of our trip at this wonderful homestay, already looking forward to it.
