There is a seating area, a dining area and a kitchen complete with an oven and a fridge. The accommodation is non-smoking. Amazing stay at Hotel De Khama. The owners of the hotel, a family, are very friendly. The food was homemade and delicious with a lot of choice. The rooms are very clean, tidy, there are absolutely no strange odors, and it smells like wood since most of the interior of the hotel is made of wood in the Euro style. I was amazed by all this after many nights at home stay of Ladakh. However, most of all I was amazed by the beautiful garden of various flowers near  hotel De Khama. I have travelled a lot throughout Ladakh and I stayed with many families in home stays, but I have never seen such a magnificent garden with flowers in the deep Himalayas near the houses of local people. Well done! I wish them prosperity and all the best! Of course, I recommend it 100%, if you are traveling in the Nubra Valley, stay overnight in Sumur, in this beautiful hotel De Khamа.

Offering a garden and garden view, Chakzot garden house is located in Leh, 700 metres from Soma Gompa and 1.7 km from Namgyal Tsemo Gompa. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is set 1.4 km from Shanti Stupa. Lovely place with a beautiful garden and a great location. We enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to extend it for a few more days. The owners are incredibly helpful—when I fell sick on our second night in Leh, they took me to the hospital in the middle of the night. We are truly grateful for everything.

There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. Very friendly hosts and very helpful. Airport transportation perfekt. Beautiful rooms, not only warm but hot (!) showers, comfy beds, very good and rich breakfast! Quiet at night. City center is in walking distance. Once we enjoyed dinner on site, which was delicious. We travelled individually without pre-booked tour, so we had to organize a lot on site. The host helped us brilliantly with this. We could not have imagined anything better. Many thanks again for the wonderful time and your help with our organization!

Himalayan Regal House is set in Deskit. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. I literally liked everything there. The staff were really welcoming and helpful, particularly Anshu and the other guy whose name I do not remember. They did their best. A dinner buffet was amazing and really tasty. If I had the opportunity to come back, I’d choose this homestay again with no hesitation.

Boasting a balcony with garden views, a garden and a shared lounge, Thangkop House can be found in Leh, close to Soma Gompa and 4.4 km from Shanti Stupa. A hot spring bath and a bicycle rental service are available for guests. The guest house features mountain views, a sun terrace, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available. We had an amazing stay at Thangkop House. We were warmly greeted by Dolma who is a wonderful host. She made us feel right at home and made sure we adjusted to the altitude. We loved Thangkop so much that we spent a few nights initially but then came back multiple times between trips to other places. The rooms are lovely and sunny. We had yummy breakfasts with homemade local bread. Wang (Dolmas son) helped us organise a scooter trip arranging for the bike to be dropped to the house for a very reasonable price and also helped us organise a trip to the Sham Valley Trek. I couldn’t recommend highly enough and if you are visiting Leh you should stay here :)

Julay Guest House, a property with a garden and a terrace, is set in Leh, 1.5 km from Shanti Stupa, 300 metres from Soma Gompa, as well as 2 km from Namgyal Tsemo Gompa. Featuring river and inner courtyard views, this guest house also has free WiFi. War Museum is 5.4 km from the guest house. Fatima the hostess is so nice! The guest house is off the main roads but in a very good location. Has a calming atmosphere with a stunning garden with small tables and a tea table with free tea all day long.

Located near Namgyal Tsemo Gompa and Soma Gompa, Rock Castle Residency is in Leh and provides free private parking and a restaurant. With quiet street views, this accommodation features a terrace. Guests can make use of the outdoor fireplace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the mountain and garden. What a wonderful place to stay and even more wonderful hosts... At first we booked this stay only for one night, so we could reset after a series of flight from Europe and a sleepless night spent at the DEL airport. They welcomed us early in the morning and provided us with a calm room, two large bottles of water and a welcome tea. Since we arrived way earlier than check-in time, our room was not ready for moving in, so they provided us with the back-up room, so we could take a rest. We liked their hospitality so much that we immediately booked two more nights at the Castle Rock, so we could acclimatize properly before continuing our trip in Ladakh. On the next day they moved us over to a bigger room with balcony. Rooms are renovated and equipped with everything a western traveler could wish. They even have a working desk if you wish to stay for a longer period and work from there. The bathroom is large and of course it has 24/7 hot water. They have an in-house restaurant for guests and prepare variety of meals on demand. Even late in the evening. Most of the ingredients come from the garden next to the hotel - you can even see the cook going to the garden to pick vegetables for the meal while you wait. The staff is truly wonderful. The owner is very kind and helpful, but two members of the staff from Darjeeling (don't know their names) really stand out. They are so kind, polite and helpful and really want to make you feel at home. In the end of our Ladakh trip we came back there to stay for two more nights. So in the end, what was the "solution for the first night" ended up being our second home in Leh for five nights. + Well furbished rooms + Very nice garden for relaxation + Helpful and kind staff + In-house restaurant + 24/7 hot water and electricity (back-up generator) + Provide ILP for traveling around Ladakh + Two cute dogs + Market across the street + Located in a relatively calm place, 10 minutes walk from the Leh main market

As an added convenience, the homestay offers packed lunches for guests to bring on excursions and other trips off-property. Dining options are available close to Lhachik Guest House. I had an excellent experience staying at Lhachik Guesthouse. I had only planned to stay for a few days prior to trekking, but do to an injury ended up staying for about weeks and am very happy I did. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. They have a comfortable rooftop with great views and good chai is always available. Dinner is available at a reasonable price and is excellent. The rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable. It is located in a tranquil neighborhood within close walking distance to everything of interest. It will be the first place I look to stay next time I am in Leh.
