In addition, the location of the guesthouse in ideal as you can walk to many places such as the famous tree, the library and the onsen itself. Also, the room is spacious and the bed is comfy. 43 km from Mount Aso, hostel+cafe たね is a recently renovated property situated in Hōgano and features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Housed in a building dating from 2023, this guest house is 47 km from the Lake Ezu. The guest house has family rooms. We had an amazing time and evening with them and the other guests. We also were helped out with a vegeterian dinner since the restaurants nearby did not offer such an option. Our unexpected highlight of the trip!

It was very relaxing, and the house was convenient and clean. Yuki had renovated his grandmothers house with good taste, it was modern but with tradition. It was nice to sink feet into the onsen water foot bath on the deck after walking around the peaceful surroundings. Yuki gave us also good information about area and was very kind as a host. We enjoyed our visits to the Youyu-an Onsen and Noah’s Coffee House where you can drink coffee grown in the Kirishima area. We could have stayed longer! Greetings from two Finnish ladies
