We loved our stay with Romulo and Helga (and their cute pets). When we arrived from a night bus, they welcomed us straight into the kitchen and made us a delicious (complimentary) breakfast. So kind. Our room wasn’t quite ready but they allowed us to shower and rest in another room until it was - this was much before the check in time so we were really grateful for this too. The house is a little out of town but we really liked that about it. It seems far in a taxi (only 10-15 soles though) but walking the Inca trail only takes about 15-20 minutes. The house is right next to Inca ruins and Romulo took us on a walk to show us the main sights, he also gave us so much information about the local area. Helga and Romulo make a great breakfast and they put a hot water bottle in our bed every evening. Also, my laptop broke whilst I was there and they got me in touch with someone to fix it. They are wonderful hosts and we would more than happily stay here again.

•host Yeni and her lovely family truly care about people and they do everything possible to help you out and make your stay comfortable Due to problems with my missing luggage I had to change my bookings several times and Yeni took it always with a smile and arranged everything in my favor :) They also have an oxygen bottle for emergencies if you get altitude sickness. Yeni is first aid trained for those situations •location It‘s a bit out of the center (10 min walk to plaza de armas) which I really liked because you automatically can explore the city and some hidden places during your daily walks You also can enjoy a good view of the city from up there Because of it’s location it’s very quiet most of the time, so can enjoy a good night sleep All in all I absolutely recommend this hostel if you don’t mind being not in the middle of the action

Aside from the perfect location, spotless cleanliness, incredibly helpful staff, and top-notch facilities, I have to give a standing ovation to the team for going above and beyond—specifically helping me recover a jacket that mysteriously disappeared from the hostel bar (I’m choosing to believe it was an honest mistake 😅). Also, special shoutout to Luna, the kindest volunteer with a wicked sense of humor, who made our stay all the more entertaining. She also graciously helped me swallow my pride after repeatedly destroying me in table soccer—truly a humbling experience 😄. Big thanks to everyone at Black Llama—you're legends! 🦙✨

    Great service, super welcoming, nice breakfast and the perfect budget hostel. Its surrounded by cheap food options and a 5 min walk from the main plaza. Cheap and cheerful. Kevin is really helpful with suggestions and recommendations. Not a party hostel, so be aware, but still had fun and a few nights out with the staff and guests!
