Without her, my trip would have been very difficult, but because of her kindness, I even caught my train on time. This hostel is very well organized, clean, and comfortable. It has a gaming zone, a nice café, and everything nearby. But the best part is the people – thanks to Sui Nan, I felt that in China everyone knows how to love and care, no matter your religion, race, or country. I will always see Sui Nan as my friend, and I strongly recommend all tourists to stay at Happy Bear Youth Hostel. It’s not just a place to sleep – it feels like home.

Waking up in the morning in the hutong and seeing the old roofs stretching out in front of you gives you a real feel of authentic Beijing life. The restaurant serves tasty food in a comfortable setting, it's very easy to meet people (fellow travelers or just regular visitors). The hostel is across from the China Academy of Theater and there is a beautiful theater + cafe just down the alley. Staff is friendly and accomodating, use google translator if you run into communication problems. I highly recommend this hostel to solo travelers (I stayed in the 2 bed female dorm) and anyone looking for a calm, cozy place in the center of Beijing.

The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. I don’t think the pictures does this hostel justice. It was such a nice stay! I had an all girls dorm, the beds were good, no curtains but that’s okay. It’s really social and the front desk is super helpful. They can help organize tours and also they have a little store in the hostel in case you need anything. It’s close to the subway and it’s huge.
