At the hostel, all rooms are equipped with a wardrobe. Rooms are complete with a private bathroom equipped with a shower, the units at Ester`s Place have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and some rooms come with a balcony. Ester’s place was easy to find with Google maps and Uber. It had everything I needed and for a price better than anything else around. Ester responded very quickly to any question I had. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting simple accommodation in this area.

I loved everything about this place: the location, big capsule beds ( sound proof and privacy), lockers, clean place, fully equipped kitchen, safe and quiet neighbourhood, breakfast with fruits (pineapple, bananas), coffee, milk, cereals (3 types), tea, bread, jam (2 types) and butter. Good value for money (had a last minute deal), close to a big supermarket (10 minutes by walk), the hosts are super friendly. I enjoyed my stay here and I definitely recommend and will be back when I transit San Jose. Thank you! ❤️

A well run hostel by a “hands on” owner who has put a lot of care in creating and managing the place. Both the owner and his staff were all very friendly and interested in chatting with their guests. The owner actually works the day shift (at least the days I was there) so he was very present to ensure a good stay. There was also staff there 24 hours a day. Chillout Hostel had two common areas. One area was in front of the building (but fenced in and behind the secured entrance gate) and was a nice place to enjoy breakfast or coffee. The second area was in the back of the building (and also enclosed). There were also seven guest rooms, a combination of dorms and private rooms. The social scene was nice, but certainly not a “party hostel.” The common areas (particularly the back common area) and kitchen were closed off at 22:00 to ensure a quiet night. They reopened at 7:00 the next morning. I found the neighborhood to be safe, certainly safer than other parts of San Jose. There were restaurants and grocery stores with a few blocks of the hostel. The hostel was a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the city center.

Staff was very friendly and informative and helped me with finding a bus. I also forgot to change my phone so woke up an hour early so the receptionist made me breakfast an hour early which was very nice of him
