We spent lots of time in the central garden/yard, where there are places to sit and some things for kids to do. The bathrooms were nice - clean, well equipped, adequate for number of guests. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable. It felt family run. They were helpful with queries beforehand. Breakfast was very good.

This hostel is housed in a refurbished 1800s prison building, on the central Stockholm island of Långholmen. Surrounded by greenery, it offers a restaurant, a shared kitchen and free Wi-Fi and parking. Every now and again I stay somewhere that exceeds my expectations...this place was one of those times. A very friendly man at reception, a spacious shower room with natural window light, and a room with everything I needed including a comfortable bed. All this in an ex-prison! I had a better night's sleep here than I had in a Hilton hotel in Rome a few weeks earlier. During the night is was so quiet, not surprising when you see how thick the walls are! I would definitely stay here again.

At this hostel, you can choose dormitory rooms or private guest rooms. I had an amazing stay at Generator hostel. I came from Copenhagen by Flixbus and it was a convenient 10-minute walk from the bus station to the hostel. My checkin was supposed to be at 2pm but I arrived there at 9 am and the person at the reception was kind enough to let have an early checkin and go up to the bedroom to rest a bit. The location was fantastic, allowing me to walk everywhere in the center. The bedroom bathroom was clean and tidy. It didn’t have a hairdryer but you can borrow one at the reception if you need it. Breakfast is available at the cost of 9 euros, which is a great deal for Stockholm. I love eating where I’m staying so I can explore the city without worrying about breakfast, and this was perfect. I’d say this place is great for all types of travelers—solo, families, groups of friends…

The Östasiatiska Museet Bus Stop is 150 metres from the hostel. Kungsträdgården Metro Station is 10 minutes’ walk from STF Stockholm Skeppsholmen Vandrarhem. Where to start... the view from my side of the hostel was exquisite, the room was spacious and well-equipped, all the shared facilities are plentiful and pleasant to use, the place is extremely well-organized and the staff friendly and professional. The very good onsite cafe is a huge bonus (a better option than the buffet breakfast, in my opinion).
