This attractive, Victorian, semi-detached house belongs to King Charles's estate at Sandringham. There are beautiful walks in the woods which are just a few minutes away. The Sandringham visitors centre is 15 to 20 minutes walk. There are 2 comfortable guest rooms, a double with en-suite powerful shower and the family room, which sleeps 3, has a king-sized and a single bed. The private bathroom with bath and powerful shower over, is off the landing. There is one step down into the bathroom and to the double bedroom. The single flight of stairs to the first floor has hand rails on both sides. Breakfast is served in the dining room which has one communal table. This can become quite a sociable occasion. Both rooms have large, flat-screened tv's, tea/ coffee making facilities, dressing gown, shampoo and shower gel and hair dryer. Guests are invited to enjoy the garden. There is parking for up to 3 cars on the drive.
Gwen is a professional garden designer. She enjoys gardening, reading, painting, photography, wildlife, travelling, wine tasting, eating out and walking with the dog especially along the vast, empty beaches of the north Norfolk coast. She is also a member of the Hunstanton bridge club. She has been running a B&B business since 1986 and enjoys getting to know the guests. Discretion is used should the guests prefer to have their privacy.
Dersingham is a large, thriving village with all necessary amenities including the Carole Brown Health Centre, dentist, optician, pharmacy, supermarkets, garden centre with coffee shop, etc. There is a tea room approximately 2 minutes walk from St. Jude's and The Feathers Hotel, which serves good food. The Coach and Horses public house is currently being renovated and may reopen in 2024. Both are just a few minutes walk away. There is also a Chinese take-away, a fish & chip shop and a kebab shop in the village. The Sandringham Estate and visitors centre is only a couple of minutes away by car. The House and Gardens are open to visitors from April to October. The Visitors Centre with a cafe/ restaurant, the children's play area and the Royal Park are open all the year round. Dogs are welcome in these areas apart from the children's play area. Enjoy the beautiful woodland walks through the Royal Park. Throughout the year there are many events which take place. Examples include Food and Craft Fairs, Horse Driving Trials, the Sandringham flower show, country fair, Luminate and various concerts. In August 2023, Robbie Williams and The Who played there. The area is unrivalled for nature reserves with Snettisham Beach just 10 minutes drive away. Autumn welcomes the arrival of migrant birds to The Wash where thousands of birds feed throughout the winter. Birds include flocks of pink-footed geese thousands of which fly from their overnight roost on the Wash to the fields where the feed on sugar beet tops, etc. Knot swirl spectacularly ahead of the incoming tide, as well as many other waders which feed on the millions of invertebrates which live in the mud. The North Norfolk coast has miles of wide sandy beaches and several nature reserves. Try the delicious home made scones and tea cakes at the Holme-next-the-Sea NWT reserve cafe. There are plenty of stately homes to visit in the area including Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall and NT properties Oxborough and Blickling, etc.
