Starnash is a cosy farmhouse on 3 acres of land; the east side is self-contained for 8 guests. A shepherd’s hut in the garden can be hired separately (when available) for 2 more people, so we can accommodate up to 10 guests in total. If you’re looking to get away and be just off the beaten track then Starnash is the place for you. Here you are surrounded by nature & birdsong and within a few miles of beaches, woodland walks, the South Downs AONB, quirky villages and vibrant towns.
We (the hosts) live in the west side of the house which is separate from the east (guest) side of the house when people come to stay. Guests have their own garden area on the east and south side of the house, a kitchen-living-dining area and everything they need for complete self-reliance. We have a garden area for ourselves which is on the west side of the house and completely separate from the guests' garden. Guests are asked to park just outside the garden wall in the safe 'field' parking area. We (the hosts) have parking space for an electric car in front of the house. We are happy to let guests who are electric car owners charge their car here. There are a few communal outside spaces such as the 'Yard' and the 'orchard' to name a couple, where often people stop for a chat. We leave guests to their own devices to have a completely self-contained holiday, although we're happy to chat, answer any questions and give you lots of inside knowledge about how to have the best time whilst you're staying, whatever the weather.
Get away from it all...walk on the Downs, swim in the sea, warm up by the fire in a quaint pub, tipple in hand. Treat yourself to some of the wonderful events and places of interest that Sussex has to offer all year round. Gather with friends or family & feel at home whilst you relax. Eat out at one of the great pubs listed below. Retreat with that novel you're going to write, bring your paints & canvasses, or the books you've been meaning to read for years. Pubs & Villages: Explore Sussex villages with their historic churches and cosy pubs serving great food. Our village pub in Upper Dicker is The Plough just 5 minutes down the road (15 minutes walk) with a roaring log fire, great garden and delicious food. Other nearby pubs that we like: The Ram Inn, Firle after a walk along the Old Coach Road at the foot of the Downs or Firle Beacon at the top of the Downs. The Sussex Ox, Milton Street after the Long Man of Wilmington walk. The Six Bells, Chiddingly - quirky, traditional pub with live music on Friday nights. The George, Alfriston - visit Much Ado Books and Badgers Tea Rooms too. The Cricketers Arms, Berwick Village after a walk along the Old Coach Road or
