Our property is a beautiful historic building built by the famous Joseph Paxton who designed the Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition of 1851. The house is one of a very few B&Bs close enough to three of the most famous Peak District attractions - Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Bakewell - for our guests to be able to walk to these locations from the house along beautiful National Park footpaths in just one hour or less. We also have guide books for all the major attractions that our guests can borrow to take with them when they visit or just to read in the comfort of our sitting / dining room.
I have been running my B&B for fifteen years and do my upmost to make my guests comfortable by providing extras not normally offered, including comprehensive guides for local walks through the beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park that surrounds the house. I have designed these walks myself and many of them take in footpaths off the beaten track. I love welcoming guests to my house and helping to make their stay as enjoyable as possible by providing as much information on the local area as possible.
The beautiful village of Rowsley is located in the Derwent Valley and has a working flour mill and craft centre, an upmarket hotel with a bar and fine dining restaurant open to the public, a village pub that serves food all day and the Peak Village Shopping Centre now owned by the Chatsworth Estate with the daytime restaurant Chatsworth Kitchen. There is also a village shop and post office. Rowsley is only half a mile from Peak Rail historic steam railway. The border of the Peak District National Park runs through the middle of the village, which lies between the towns of Matlock and Bakewell. Just one mile away is the Devonshire Arms pub, an award winning gastro pub very popular with locals and visitors alike. Rowsley lies less than two miles from both the Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall

The Old Station House is the second house on the left immediately after turning onto Chatsworth Road from the A6. It has a white conservatory on the front and a B&B sign above the front door. The entrance to the car park is 40 metres further along Chatsworth Road, bordered by a lamppost and a bus stop. If you are coming from Chatsworth along the B6012, follow the road through Rowsley until you pass Hinckley Court on your right and then our car park entrance is immediately after the bus stop on your right. The house is 40 metres further along the road towards the A6 junction.

Standard check-in time is between 16:30 and 18:00. Outside these hours the staff may not be available so, if you would like to check-in at an alternative time, please contact the property in advance and they will do their best to accommodate your request.
