About this property
Once a 15th-century Franciscan monastery, Chiostro Delle Monache is just outside Volterra's Etruscan walls, next to the Presidio Ospedaliero Santa Maria Maddalena hospital. It offers en suite rooms, 2 free parking areas, and an original period cloister. The rooms at Delle Monache are simply furnished, and feature tiled floors and wooden furniture. On site you will find a café, a reading room and a TV lounge. Free Wi-Fi access is available in these public areas. There is also a children's play area. Breakfast is served in a frescoed room, where you can also have dinner on request. The monastery was built in 1445, along with the adjacent Church of Saint Girolamo. The cloister is by Michelozzo, a sculptor and architect in Donatello's workshop. The property is 1 km from Volterra's Porta a Selci gateway, and about an hour's drive from Pisa, Florence and Siena. Public buses stop outside the entrance.
