Suite San Giacomo - L'Opera dell'Architetto is a wonderful suite located in the heart of the Sassi of Matera, just a few steps from the striking 13th-century Romanesque-Pugliese-style Cathedral. Nestled in an ancient palazzotto in the Civita of this beautiful town, our home offers enchanting views of both the Gravina stream and the impressive canyon where the Park of the Rock Churches unfolds. A spacious shower, a hot tub with a view and a large fireplace complete the magic.
The apartment is located in the heart of the Civita, the upper part of the Sassi di Matera where the nobility and curia of the ancient town of Matera lived. Today it is a precious, well-kept neighborhood, a very short walk from Piazza Duomo and the magnificent Cathedral of the town, full of museums, accommodations, bars and restaurants. The area dominates the entire old part of the town from above, allowing breathtaking views of the ancient districts, the Gravina rock wall and the Murgia Materana Archaeological and Nature Park. The apartment is in the oldest part of the town and cannot be reached by car. However, immediately outside the pedestrian zone the town provides several parking spaces, both on-street and indoor in multi-story garages. From there the property can be reached by a 5/10-minute walk through the historic center or by the Sassi Line bus service with runs every 30 min.
