Jomo Stay Takasaki is a spacious 70 m², single-floor apartment only a three-minute walk from Takasaki Station, the gateway to northern Kantō. Inside, the décor evokes the Jōmō Three Mountains with natural wood furniture that brings the beauty of Gunma’s landscapes indoors. The sleeping arrangement consists of one Simmons double bed and two semi-double beds; with two additional single floor mattresses the apartment comfortably accommodates up to eight guests, making it ideal for families and groups. In the open-plan living-dining-kitchen you can stream movies or music on a 100-inch screen with a 4K projector, and high-speed Wi-Fi ensures a smooth experience for business travelers and remote workers. A ReFa rainfall shower helps you unwind after a busy day. Within a few minutes on foot you will find department stores such as Takasaki OPA and Takashimaya, countless cafés and local eateries, and several squares and parks that host events. Takasaki and the wider Gunma region are known for music, film, nature and pasta culture. The apartment is a perfect base for concerts and events at Takasaki City Theatre, G Messe Gunma and Takasaki Arena, as well as for day-trips to Mount Haruna and Lake Haruna, Ikaho Onsen, the historic Tomioka Silk Mill and Shōrin-ji Daruma Temple.
I am Daruma, your host at JOMO STAY. I work a regular office job and live with my wife and young son. In 2025 I started hosting to share the appeal of my home prefecture with guests from Japan and abroad. Gunma was once called “Jōmō,” a name that still appears in local culture such as the Jōmō karuta playing cards and the Jōmō Three Mountains. I recently learned about the English acronym “JOMO,” Joy Of Missing Out, which celebrates enjoying the present moment. Hoping that guests will slow down and live like locals here, I named the property JOMO STAY. Interior design is my hobby, so you will notice playful touches throughout the space. Although your stay may be short, I hope you enjoy every minute.
The area around Takasaki Station offers excellent shopping and dining. A short stroll introduces you to the city’s famous “Takasaki Gourmet.” Major performance and event venues—Takasaki City Theatre, G Messe Gunma, Takasaki Arena and the Gunma Music Center—are within walking distance, and a loop bus is also available, making the apartment an ideal base for group trips with friends or family. By car or train in under an hour you can reach the natural beauty of Mount Haruna and Mount Akagi, the renowned hot-spring town of Ikaho, the Tomioka Silk Mill World Heritage Site, the resort town of Karuizawa and many other attractions.
Shopping: Takasaki Takashimaya one minute on foot; Takasaki OPA two minutes; Takasaki Montres three minutes; a drugstore thirty seconds.
Dining: Harappa, the city’s famous pasta restaurant where queues are common; Torihē, representing Gunma’s signature chicken rice dish with eat-in service; Jikaseimen Kuromatsu, a celebrated ramen shop serving elegant clear soy-based broth (lunch only); and Niku-Kappō Tsubomi, where you can enjoy Jōshū beef and pork prepared as steak, seiro-mushi and other styles.
We look forward to welcoming you to Jomo Stay Takasaki, where mountains meet city life and every stay becomes part of your journey.
