Cerrito Encantado is a multi-level complex with two casitas, a two-story six-room building with 3 bedrooms and one three piece bathroom with a standing shower on each floor, and two private toilets outdoors. There’s also a salt water pool, two meditation areas, washing machine, yard, and outdoor kitchen eating area which are all shared spaces for all people who stay with us! THE CASITAS are a one bedroom, one bath with standing shower, and full kitchen. It's fully furnished with all the essentials including linens, towels, and kitchenware. The ceiling fans will keep you cool while you're inside cooking or enjoying the Netflix connected TV. THE BEDROOMS are on the upper level of the property. Each floor is almost identical with one bedroom with 2 twin beds & one bedroom with 1 twin beds. Every bedroom has a ceiling fan to help keep you cool. MOST GUESTS who stay with us spend most of their time outside, relaxing, and by the pool. You can easily get lost while watching the wind flow through the beautiful vegetation on the property. Nearly every area of the property has an enchanting view of the surrounding valley and ocean. THE ENTRANCE to the property is very steep and we recommend to only drive down if you have a HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLE with 4x4 or AWD. Otherwise it's imperative that you feel comfortable WALKING UP AND DOWN THE STEEP ENTRANCE. UPON ARRIVING, you'll meet our furry friendly dogs, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Morena. They work hard to keep the property free from non-domesticated animals that roam the jungle or mountains. We're close to several BEACHES like La Peñita de Jaltemba, Chacala, Guyabitos, the historical site La Pila del Rey Petroglyph Complex, Agua Terminales, and more. But the best part is being able to retreat back into the peaceful hillside without the tourism! We can't wait to host you!!
My name is Yassira, but you can call me Yazzi. My father found Altavista over 20 years ago and fell in love with the view, the people, and all the beauty that surrounds it. Over time he began building Cerrito Encantado and has now given me and my fiancé, Chris, the opportunity to share it with the world.
Although we live in the states, we often visit to for maintenance and updates. When we're here, we're so happy to chat, but we try to give you as much private time so you can fully disconnect and find peace.
Chris and I both love to travel around the world. We love food. And we love meeting new people.
WHILE MY fiancé and I sometimes visit the property and stay in one of the casitas or bedrooms, our Manager Tomy is there most days to maintain the property or feed the dogs. If you would ever like more privacy, please let us know in advance so we may try to accommodate you.
Altavista is a beautiful quaint town untouched my tourism. Everyone is extremely nice and welcoming.
You will find all the basic essentials that you may need. A few small Abarrotes where you can buy essentials, basic produce, deli meats, and cheeses. Buy fresh tortillas or masa to make your own at the Tortilleria. Buy beer at one of the two depositos (take empty bottles to get a discount). On Wednesdays, buy carnitas and chicarrones. On Saturdays, buy pollo asado at a nearby home with all the fixings.
SITESEEING
Please let us know if you would like a local guide to take you to the nearby sites. The waterfalls are plentiful in November (after the rainy season). And it's walkable from Cerrito Encantado. The hiking trial around the hill of AltaVista (Must hire a guide to take you). La Pila Del Rey, a historical ceremonial grounds of the indigenous Tecoxquin (Tequectequi) native people. It's a must see for anyone who comes to this area. You need a high-clearance vehicle to get to the site which is about 20-25 minute drive plus another 15 minute walk to the ceremonial site. Note that Map directions are incorrect. You will need to pay a donation that changes daily. We recommend that you hire one of our local guides who can take you by our 4x4 vehicle or hike through one of the orchards. They will get permission from the orchard owner so you don't have to be afraid of walking on private property.
BEACHES. Altavista has several nearby beaches that you can visit that are 15-25 minutes away depending on the beach. Our favorite is Chacala as it tends to have less tourism and the waves to us are relatively calm. However many of our guests love to travel to different beaches even as far as Salyulita.
