One of the earliest homes in North Canterbury, Ardross House (built 1875) has been a farmhouse and a hostel. Guest rooms have expansive views of Mt Grey and surrounding countryside. Guest rooms are reach by way of a lovely kauri stairway.
Wiapara winery region, with restaurants, tours and tastings, begins just 3kms north along the highway. Hanmer hot springs are a bit over an hour away, and the delights of Kaikoura an hour and a half. Heading south, Christchurch Airport is a 45 minute drive.
