Your welcoming hosts are Tim and Debbie, nature lovers, who have been privileged to have been guardians/owners of the sanctuary for over 30 years and open for guests since 2006. We have restored the Sanctuary to a natural wilderness.and love life in our bush hideaway, where we have raised our 3 daughters.

If you are after a nature experience, bird life, tranquility of nature and away from the city and crowds, then this is for you. We are 25 minutes from the city, 15 minutes from a grocery store and a takeaway. We offer a rustic and authentic experience with the charm and hospitality of yesteryear. A unique opportunity to stay within a wildlife sanctuary for a 2 night minimum. We have a natural wonderland of Glow Worms, which guests experience in a personally guided tour that is included in the room rate, and also a Rainforest Eco-Tour and hearty breakfasts. Expansive gardens, bush walks, Glow Worms & starry skies. Cosy rainforest huts with ensuite, built using recycled materials (1970's retro decor) and Family Room (Max 2 adults-must include children under 12yrs) with separate private bathroom. Open for bookings, excluding Monday nights (except for Easter Monday, open). A Queen Elizabeth II National Trust protected property with trees over 500yrs old. We are only 45 minutes from Rotorua, if you come via State Highway 36, then turn right into Oropi Road, then right into Ohauiti Road via McPhails Road. (If you travel via State Highway 33, it will take a lot longer.) We are 25 minutes away from Tauranga city

Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary is 15 minutes away from Otanewainuku Kiwi Forest, 1200 hectares of virgin forest with many walking tracks. Run by volunteers looking after flora and fauna for future generations yet to come.
