Comfortable Tatami beds. Great to have private toilet. The onsite outdoor private Onsen and inside (male/female) onsens were fantastic. Loved the supplied Yukata and Geta for the Onsens. Key supplied for all public onsens through town. The owners were so helpful and kind, driving us to and from snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. Enjoyed the traditional home made breakfast delivered to our room at reasonable price in beautiful bento box.

At the ryokan, units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Absolutely a gem!!! Food was one of the best in the entire trip to Japan. Some staff spoke English and went out of their way to make the experience memorable. The onsen is natural hot springs with nice sulfur smell. Loved every second of this place. Would happily return.

We had a great stay at Shoraiso for our honeymoon in December. Service is unparalleled and the staff are doing above and beyond to make us feel like home without being intrusive. We love the elephant decor of the room and the beautifully landscaped garden, and the private onsen is definitely the highlight of our trip. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just exceptional (very tasty with fresh local ingredient and creative presentation). The location is quite convenient - 45min train from Nagano to Yudanaka station and hotel is just a few min drive away (the hotel can arrange pick up). Monkey park is quite close (around 15min taxi away). Overall we couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

All rooms are equipped with an electric kettle, free toiletries and a TV. I never experienced such VIP service otherwise in the world. Whole reception teams demonstrated what extraordinary service should be. I arrived late by bus and was welcomed by one receptionist in bus stop. so I did not need to carry my luggage in the snowing road. They even opened the ski rental shop for me after working hour. The next morning, I missed public shuttle bus and they offered to use hotel shuttle bus to drive me over to ski lift in Yakebitaiyama without reservation in advance. I felt that I was living with a lot of friends instead of living in hotel. I was too tired to try the bar at night, and I would like to try it next time. Swimming pool was good with quite warm water. Hot bathing place with best view. Sun rising over snow mountain top. Breakfast was very good with many variations. The dinner I ordered was pork hotpot, and personally I think the starter tasted better and pork meat is okay. I will try something else next time. All in all, the service and room condition are all top.

Ski renting and lesson can be done at the hotel. Ken is truly an amazing teacher. Very patient and encouraging. We booked 3 lessons with him and very satisfied. As for food, we opted for half board option and find that the dinners, in every nights we stayed, are delicious and nutritional. Ski-in/ski-out is very convenient. The ski lift is right in front of the hotel. The Sun Valley area is also great for both beginner and intermediate skiers with green/red/black slopes in one area. On weekdays, there are almost no people there, which is nice if you want to practice or learn to ski. The bus stop to the city and other areas is only 100m away. The 24-h onsen is perfect after a tiring day of skiing. The family's hospitality is unmatched. I broke my glasses and Captain helped me fix them :) they literally have everything. Highly recommend!
