After reading the rave reviews, I booked this stay months in advance to make sure we would not miss the opportunity to meet Ken and Yuki and to stay at their guesthouse boasting modern facilities and balancing comfort and sleek design with traditional Japanese architecture and minimalistic and elegant interior design. At the end of a long day hiking, we were greeted with a big smile as if we'd come home to our family, a feeling that is both priceless and heatwarming. Ken's kind and welcoming nature is only rivalled by Yuki's and her sense of humor. Dinner was as delicious as our breakfast (all guests shamelessly went for seconds and some even thirds taking the lead for a brave lady I shall not name), enjoyed to the sound of Jazz standards in a communal spirit shared with the other guests, all of whom polite and considerate, as if handpicked by the hosts or perhaps instinctively mirroring their behavior. Guests do not have to wait to take a shower because there are three showers, one of which with an additional bathtub, for four rooms. Everything is impeccably clean and organized, making you feel restful instantly. So, do not hesitate to book this guesthouse as you make your way along the Old Nakasendo Road or just take a taxi to Magome and walk a few hundred meters to take photos for your Insta. Whether you fit the former or latter category, you will be treated as a family member by the kindest people we've met during our 3-week stay in Japan. I've already recommended this guesthouse to everyone I know who is planning to visiting Japan.

This was a shot in the dark booking since I couldn’t find a place near the beach that was tattoo friendly. We were blown away at the facility, amenities and overall beauty of the location. I booked 3 rooms. Everyone had their own private onsen bath. My husband and I upgraded to the sauna barrel room and we LOVED IT. The guys all did sauna in the morning. They even give you handmade authentic sauna hats. Breakfast was simple but filling. Half of the group did the Japanese style, half did American. My jumbo toast made me feel like I was in a Ghibli movie having breakfast. There is a vending machine in the breakfast area was a variety of snacks and drinks. Our van made it on the roads to the property. So a standard vehicle will have no issue. Beautiful creak flowing in the backyard of every room. Every room has an entrance, toilet & sink room, living room (doubles as bedroom bc you have tatami beds), vanity sink & rack, THEN sliding door to your shower & bath, THEN sliding door to your porch with seating. Our room had the barrel immediately to the left of the porch with ANOTHER outdoor tub. Price was excellent!!

Cleanliness, comfortable, their staff, I enjoyed everything here. Two bed side gadgets, the B&O blue speaker sounds excellent at night. Their food isn’t cheap but worth every penny.

L’hébergement 花緑里-Hanamidori-乙原のやど 岐阜下呂温泉郡上飛騨金山湖畔リゾート vous accueille à Gujō, à seulement 19 km de ce lieu d’intérêt : Gero Station. Belle grande maison, situé en face d’un joli lac, avec une grande place de stationnement. L’hôte était très gentil.

L’hébergement Private House HidaTakayama se trouve à Takayama, à seulement 600 mètres de ce lieu d’intérêt : Gare de Takayama. Il propose une connexion Wi-Fi gratuite et parking privé gratuit. Tons of space which we weren’t used to after small hotel rooms, very luxurious! Very clean and organized and had everything you could need including soaps, laundry detergent, razors, etc. beautiful building! Wish we could have stayed longer.

L’établissement Yumeguri no Yado Yoshiharu se situe à Izunokuni, à 10 km de ce lieu d’intérêt : Temple Shuzen-ji. Il possède un jardin, une terrasse et un parking privé gratuit. Le personnel était adorable, les repas digne d’un très bon Ryokan. L’offre exceptionnelle de bains privés non-payants et libres d’accès est un vrai plus, le tout pour un prix raisonnable! Le Ryokan ne propose pas de navette venant nous chercher à la station de train la plus proche, il faut prévoir de prendre le bus (10min) ou un taxi (5minutes).
