One of the most beautiful and clean markets we visited, the choice and quality of products offered is simply amazing and incredibly delicious, from food products such as fresh vegetables and fruits, marinated olives, seafood and others, plants, or have something to eat here. A must if you visit München

Choose a seat under cover in case it rains if eating here and watch out for the falling chestnuts in Autumn as they are pretty painful when they drop on your head. Otherwise this is very much worth the visit as it’s very original and atmospheric.

Make sure to look up if any public holidays overlap with your stay, most stalls at Vikualienmarkt were closed on the public holiday during our stay. Also, trip here is better suited for midday when most places are open, some stalls closed earlier that we expected.

Interesting stalls and shops with great specialty foods and gourmet items. Fun to try al the many different breads on offer. Lots of cool shops on the perimeter of the market. Also a lovely brunch on a raised patio in the middle of the market.

Went in March so cold. Still lovely and enjoyable (must still see) but too cold & wet so no one was sitting in the beer gardens. Go to the shoe shops that are not far and to Eataly that is also not far.

This has to be one of my favourite food markets in the world. It's not only fabulous for what you can get there, but also for chilling out, making friends, enjoying a beer under the trees. And it;s right in the town centre. Great at any time of the year, daytime of evening.

The hotel is in a great location, only an 8 minute walk to Marienplatz, and a quick 4-minute walk to the ever-lively Viktualienmarkt and Biergarten. There are many restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, grocery stores, and shopping nearby. The staff was very welcoming and the hotel is kept very clean. The hotel restaurant provided a convenient and tasty option for meals with indoor and sidewalk seating. This was a great place to stay during Munich's most festive time of year - Oktoberfest.

The hotel is located smack in the middle of the old town, next to the Viktualienmarkt (food market), the Marienplatz and several sidewalk cafés and restaurants. The rooms and beds are comfortable and cleaned every day. The reception was welcoming.

What guests said about Viktualienmarkt:

  • The department stores were amazing.

The department stores were amazing. There are 2 just near the Marienplatz that have Metro access and are 5 stories with a grocery plus a cafeteria on the top floor! The Viktualienmarkt has great vendors and is just a short walk as well.
