There is a fridge microwave hot plate espresso machine (where they replenish the pods daily) and a kettle for tea. Easy walk to the grocery store. On the small Plaza del Carmen with multiple eateries and only one block off the Grand Via. We easily walked to the Plaza Mayor, the Prado Museum, El Retiro Park and more. Taxis are very readily available at the hotel if needed, but it's also very close to the metro. Nice little bar downstairs and a full restaurant, though there are a thousand places to eat within a half mile. Staff was friendly and helpful.
